Zaith Residency - Near US Consulate & Apollo Hospital — Hotel in Zone 9 Teynampet

Pros:

The hotel is at a walkable distance from the US embassy since booking cabs wouldn't be possible since you are not supposed to take mobile phones for the interview.

The hotel has good looking rooms with decent interior works.

The BIGGEST drawback of Zaith Residency is the presence of BED BUGS. The rooms looked clean and well maintained at the first glance. But some time later, bed bugs started bothering us and on the first day itself, we shifted to 3 rooms. Fortunately, the staff was prompt in getting us shifted from one room to another on every request. Though the third room was better, we had spotted a few bed bugs and tiny cockroaches there as well.

The management must do something about getting rid of those bed bugs. But if bed bugs won't bother you at all, this place is pretty good if you have to attend US visa interview. But you will have to take a cab to the biometrics place (thankfully, phones are allowed inside).

Although the hotel is okay, the neighbourhood isn't that great. It's a noisy area with a garbage pickup point right outside hotel. Beyond the 200m radius around the hotel, the area is pretty decent.

TVs in the rooms are just for namesake. They haven't subscribed to most of the channels. A few English news channels and Tamil channels are only available.

They do not have a restaurant of their own. But on request, they'll provide food from the nearby Seashell restaurant. Not a big deal anyway.

Finally, will I recommend Zaith Residency for you?

Bed bugs are the ONLY reason why I would not recommend this place to anyone and I am sure I will not visit this place again due to this. The rest of the cons didn't really affect us much as we were exploring Chennai most of the time. All the major attractions of the city are just 30-45 mins away from this area.

Affordable 2 star hotel and not a business class hotel.

Very poor and unsecured Wi-Fi. Not recommended when you use financial and sensitive related transactions.

Tv available but non Working remotes. Cable available but only free channels and very frequent disconnection of streaming.

In Suite , only one TV working and in living room TV and Ac not working. When checked they said it is repair. Renting out Suite with non working things.

24 hrs check in and check out and 24 hours service available , staffs are there to support you.

Overall not a very good stay and not bad also.

Note to Owner : please renovate the rooms and do basic maintenance. Don’t allow smoking inside room. It is not comfortable for new guest and the smell is there forever.

At first when I entered my room, it was all good. The room "looked" clean and tidy, and we thought we would have a normal stay. But things started getting really bad. First things first, our bathroom shower didn't work, we had to take a bucket bath (which I dont mind, but still). The next day they said they would provide breakfast at 8:30 am. But they provided it at 8:45 am. This is important because I had a doctors appointment (my reason of visit to Chennai) at 9:00 am. I almost missed it if the hotel wasn't so near to the hospital. The last and the most important thing that creeped me out is those little things in those photos. Do you know what that is, yea me neither. But I do know it's some kind of worm because it was wiggling like a worm. It was disgusting and there were at least 3 of them. Also have to mention, the Wifi doesnt work, so don't expect Wifi when you book a room. The location is also in a shabby and congested area.

Summary I would definitely NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. My stay was NOT pleasant, it could be different for others. Even for the low price we are paying I expected more. Book a nicer hotel like the Harrisons by paying an extra 400-500 Rupees. This hotel is...
