Well, now, you can imagine our delight, blessings, and in Christine's case, mild cramping, upon arriving at the Fresh One Hotel in the ever lovely Jakarta, home of seven of the loveliest people (who lived in Jakarta, not the Fresh One) I ever had the pleasure of doing some consulting for in my career. Ever since our invitation to home school, Sally and the children often travel with me, so it was a business trip for the whole clan (sans Aunt Jan, who still has some very backwards notions about all the other cultures). The rooms were in top-tip shape, and the dear soul at the front desk was present and played along with the whole new mommy gag (which Glenn and Colleen fell for, hooker, liner, and sinker). Excellent location, I think. The cleaning staff did a wonderful job, and they were very patient, welcoming, and peculiar toward Sally and the children. Whatever Sally did wrong or said wrong, no one ever verbalized why they were staring at her. I said, "see, kids, that's tolerance, unlike Aunt Jan." Anyways, I got to leave the family to do my schtick, and when I got back, the family was gone. No fear!!! They were having a walkabout, and meeting Jakartans. The food where we ate was exceptionally spicy, and frankly we shall never eat down the street again. We went back to our spacious room, had a few moments to "Freshen" up (get it? See what I did?), and went to bed. We all slept like mummies. Lisa stayed up most of the night after the rest of us were asleep and apparently skyped and watched movies all night, so she was not as "Fresh One" in the morning, but NO MERCY!!! Onward and upward to the next family adventure. I would thank specific staff members but I could not get the correct spelling of certain names. So I say thank you all, you dear...

Read moreHad a chance for quick getaway to Batam, a bustling small city. Booked and stayed at this budget hotel. We were not expecting much as we knew budget hotel comes with standard in everything you get from a budget hotel. The location is strategic in the centre of the city where it is in the middle of tourist destinations. What you get is what you pay for. Basic amenities and facilities within the hotel. However what is outstanding is their staff and services. They look after us and recommended places to visit. It was a short stay but a memorable one. Plenty of places to eat around the hotel. The food court next to the hotel is to die for. Really nice. We recommend this hotel for a quick short stay. Nothing fancy but really value...
