I had high hopes for Piccola, especially given its reputation and the charming atmosphere of the restaurant. While many reviews have highlighted poor service, I was pleasantly surprised by Tia, she was genuinely warm, attentive, and professional throughout our visit. Her hospitality stood out and deserves recognition. Unfortunately, the food told a completely different story. We ordered two drinks, two soups, two pastas, and a pizza. Out of everything, only the soups were edible, warm, comforting, and nicely seasoned. The rest, sadly, was a disaster. The chicken tasted like it had been frozen for far too long, dry, tough, and carrying that unpleasant frostbite flavor. The pasta was equally disappointing, lacking freshness and tasting like it came straight out of a cardboard box. The pizza, which should’ve been a highlight, was bland and barely palatable. What made the experience worse was how the situation was handled. Despite clearly seeing that most of the dishes were left untouched, the staff only addressed the uneaten pizza and offered a 20% discount for it, ignoring the fact that nearly the entire meal had gone to waste. It felt dismissive and unprofessional for a restaurant that positions itself as a higher-end dining spot. Overall, while Tia’s service was commendable, the food quality and lack of accountability made this one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. With so many other restaurants offering authentic flavors and better value, I cannot recommend Piccola to anyone. Save yourself the trouble, and the appetite.

I k know this is a really long review, but read it too the end… Piccola Stella is an amazing restaurant. The service is incredible, especially our waiter, Ariez. He had a really bright smile, and made sure to double check our order to make sure he didn’t have any mistakes (he didn’t 🥳) The food is literally next level. The first night we went we had a Diavola pizza, a chicken wrap, a chicken burger and the Pepper Rice. All was exceptional with excellent flavour and elements. The food came really fast and was nice and hot, but not too hot where you have to wait a really long time before you can eat it 🔥. The diavola pizza was full of cheese, and it had tons of flavour. The pepper rice was much better than other restaurants where Ive had it before. Both the chicken wrap and the burger were really good. After a 30 sec discussion with my family the next day, we all voted to go back again for dinner. This time, we got two diavola pizzas, the onion rings, and two other types of pizzas. The onion rings were very crispy, and look much better than the photo on the menu. Not too oily, they were fried to a golden perfection. Just an fyi, the portions on the menu look really small. In reality, they are so big we had a ton of leftovers. Seriously like the best restaurant I’ve been to in SouthEast Asia, with divine food and insane service. Please give this a try, you will go back as bang noghts as you are in Batam. Side note, it’s really close to the Radisson hotel, just a five min walk.

We had a fantastic dining experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. What really stood out, though, was the service. Salim and others were incredibly attentive and genuinely cared about making our visit special. Their attention to detail—from checking in at just the right times to remembering small preferences—truly elevated the whole experience. The singer at the restaurant was also amazing—great voice and a fantastic stage presence. The song selection was spot on, with a good mix that suited the vibe perfectly. Really added to the overall dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great food, a comfortable setting, and top-notch service. Will definitely be coming again.

Here’s my honest review on the food. Service was great.

(Piccola Stella)

(Pesto alla genovese “linguine”) sadly a little on the bland side of the spectrum from a pesto pasta was over cooked and can’t really taste the savouriness and the garlicky flavour in pesto. Pasta was broken in half as well apparently which doesn’t look very appealing though easy to eat. And cashews as plating a little far off from pine nuts but that’s alright.

(Lasagna “beef”) the saviour of the show the lasagna great sauce which you can taste the tomato inside and the beef was good well seasoned sauce overall the mozzarella on top was good wished there was more cheese in the layers in the lasagna, if not overall really good.

(Nacho con carne “beef”) not really a sauce a little less on the toppings unfortunately doesn’t go down to the bottom layers of the nacho the sauce was a little on the sweet side homemade chips where rather good and airy but can’t really justify.

(Mojito strawberry/blueberry) Rather great drink! With a very bright colour and very refreshing.

Definitely would come back for the lasagna as flavour was good. But certain dishes needs...
