Massillia Cucina Italiana, a famous restaurant known for its wood-oven pizza, has received several accolades included in top 50 pizza in asia.
The atmosphere feels clean and professional, but the service could be better. For a restaurant at this level, the servers' skills could be higher and should be higher. The lack of a warm welcome and gestures left a bad taste in my mouth.
Okay, now for the food, I ordered a couple of items for the three of us. First, I got eggplant parmigiana, which tasted insanely delicious and was the best dish for the night. It was eggplant cooked like lasagna, so the taste was amazing; the Bolognese and the béchamel were amazing. Even my brother, who hates eggplant, loved this dish.
I also got mushroom soup for the appetizer. The taste was very earthy and maybe too earthy for some people, but I loved it. The taste of mushroom was enhanced by the truffle oil, which made it more rounded and gave it body.
For the carbs, I ordered two pasta dishes and risotto. The cacio e pepe was executed well, but for me, nothing to write home about. For the second pasta dish, I got the seafood pasta with tomatoes; it was amazing. This is the second-best dish for us; the balance of the seafood taste and subtle tomato taste was amazing.
The third dish we got was mushroom risotto. For this dish, the taste was amazing, but nothing special for me. The rice was cooked very al dente, and maybe some people would consider it still not cooked enough, but it was executed perfectly.
Now for their famous pizza. I got two types of pizza. Since I came on Friday, I could still order their fried pizza, which I forgot what they called it, and I didn't take a picture. This fried pizza is the best deal you can get in this establishment. I got the fried pizza with pancetta and tartufo with provolone cheese; this dish tastes good and is the third-best dish for me. The blend of the melted cheese and crunchy texture of the fried pizza with the saltiness of pancetta was sublime. Highly recommended to order with their drink and fries combo.
Now for their famous wood oven pizza. Honestly to put it simple i was dissapointed. The dough was airy and fluffy, the topping was 10/10 but the way they execute the curst give it bitter taste and the dough it self i have taste better version out there. The pizza its not that its bad but i could name you at least two better pizza then this.
I got two desserts to try; honestly, they're not the best version out there. I'll call it SNI (Standard Nasional Indonesia).
Overall, the experience could be better, from the service to the food that matches their...
Read moreWe came to Massilia several times already. Our family favorite Italian restaurant. The highlight for my kids is the fish dish. We loved the seabass here.
Today, we tried their Ramadhan package menu. All of them are good, as usual. We got 2 starters, 1 pizza, 2 pastas, and 2 main dishes.
Starters: Wagyu carpacio: very good Mushroom soup: simply our favorite.
Burrata salad pizza, the buratta is creamy. The pizza dough is soft, chewy, and topped with generous prosciutto.
We ordered the prawn risotto. The risotto is creamy, with generous topping of prawn. Might be too overwhelming if consumed alone, but since we share, it's just nice.
The rigatoni ragu is my kid's favorite. We ordered an additional portion today. Ravioli is also very good 👌. The pastas here are usually cooked not too soft or mushy, suitable to our preference. The sauce and everything put together are just nice.
As for the main course, today we ordered the seabass, this one is the highlight! The fish is fried, accompanied by clams, and served on the bread bed, with a delicious sauce. The fish is fresh and not fishy, very good . Unfortunately, the fish dish is the special menu for Ramadhan, so tomorrow is the last day to enjoy them. Might not everyone's cup of tea, but we definitely enjoyed our meal.
The chicken is also juicy and good. With ratatouille and potato on side.
We also add Caesar salad near the end, but unfortunately, the dressing is a bit too sweet for my liking.
Overall, we enjoyed everything on the table. The servers are very attentive, and the service is fast and accurate. To avoid the long queue, it's recommended to reserve before you come. The price point is just nice, and they still have Panin Bank promo 25%...
