Stayed at the villa for the second time this year. While most things were impeccable, my memory of it was pretty much ruined by what happened at the end. At checkout, I was told that they could not find a tissue box and that I would have to pay a replacement fee of a little more than 1 million rupiah. (excessive, I thought for a tissue box) as it was apparently "imported from Japan". First, I was flabbergasted as I've only seen one box in the room (which we didn't use throughout the 4 days stay, using only the one on the dining table) . They claimed that it was in the toilet but from what I recalled I do not think I saw any in there. Was in a rush as my gojek was waiting to take us to the airport and we had a flight to catch, I suggested we deal with this when I reach home but they insisted I had to settle it there and then. Why, would anyone or myself, be so inclined to take a tissue box is beyond me. By this time, I was furious. This issue continued to bug me for days after and it was then that I recalled taking a picture of the toilet upon checking in. Sadly it captured only 3/4 of the sink area and there was no tissue box. I really am curious now as to which side they usually place their tissue box. In addition, throughout my stay, I DID find it odd that there was no tissue at all. I recalled this vividly as I had to use the hand towels for makeup and what-not. Not once, did I use any tissue in there! I didn't think much of it at that time but boy, it sure cost me lots of hassle and embarrassment. After much haggling, the manager came out to inform me that they decided to "let me off" on the account that I've spent quite a substantial amount at the hotel. That it was not worth the debate about a tissue box. All along there was no admission on their part that there MIGHT be a possibility that the box was not there in the first place! While I appreciated it, it still left a bitter aftertaste that I was accused of such a thing and I never thought I would ever have my integrity questioned by a hotel. I understand that there are guests who takes things from rooms but can't help but feel like they can also consider the possibility that their housekeeping made a mistake at the initial check-in. My advice to anyone now? Insist that the housekeeping do an inventory check WITH you upon ANY check-in. Otherwise it would end up as a "you-say-I-say scenario". I've never had a trust issue with the hospitality industry till this day. Also, a small wooden strip came out of the stairs in the room and they wanted to charge me for that too. It was just as bizarre as prior to that, there were creaking sounds each time we step on those particular steps. Strange, as this is supposed to be a new villa. My mistake was not informing the hotel of it earlier when it happened. Again, are they imagining I sat down and peel that part out? Or bounce on them? I have stayed at Morrissey a few times prior and as mentioned in the reviews: yes, the rooms were dated, one even smelled funky, toiletries were meh and water pressure was an issue too. But I've never let it bother me and still supported them, even recommending it to friends and posting all about it. So, when the new villas were built, I knew I had to try. They were not without issues: shower area was clogged in BOTH villas we stayed in, which led to water dripping through the ceiling of the first floor throughout the stay. Not sure if it's a hair issue but never have we encountered this anywhere else and a hotel should not be having this issue. Yes, there's only a max of 4 cocktails to choose from for the evening cocktails. Surprising, for a hotel bar. The Saturday BBQ buffet was limited and quality was disappointing for the price charged. All the rave reviews they had? Can't help but notice that they are the "influencers" and "celebrities" of the town. Service team was generally friendly and I usually am not one to complain and I generally hate to call room service ever so often for this that or the other, so I held back all these while until this...

Back when we lived here from 2015–2017, it truly felt like home and we made many wonderful memories. This time, after several years away, we wanted to come back with our parents and our little boy to relive those moments and share the nostalgia together.||||When we arrived, it took a while before our room was ready, and by then it was already close to 8 p.m. The warm welcome drink hot chocolate was a lovely touch after a long day of traveling.||||Unfortunately, when we first entered our room, we immediately noticed a loud buzzing sound from the outdoor condenser units, which made it impossible to rest. Opening the curtains only revealed a full stack of condenser units, likely from the newly built villa section. Meanwhile, my parents-in-law’s room had a smaller window but faced the courtyard with very strong LED lights shining directly in.||||We were moved to another room on the 8th floor, which solved the buzzing issue, but from there we could hear the morning prayer call very clearly. The view was only of the villa’s back wall, so sadly, no real view at all. My parents-in-law decided to stay in their room, as moving again for just a short stay felt like too much effort.||||This left us with the impression that hotel guests might now be less of a priority compared to villa guests. Both of our rooms felt closed in and lacked the airy, open feeling that Morrissey once had. The room itself was clean, but it looked like it could use some refreshing. Small details stood out, such as two bedside lamps in different colors, and we also noticed that hand towels were missing something I had to request from housekeeping.||||Room service also took quite some time to arrive, and the kids’ meal seemed overpriced for what it was spaghetti with chicken. It was also surprising to find coriander instead of parsley, which made it less suitable for children’s taste.||||During our stay, there was also a large conference and gathering at the hotel. While we completely understand that events are part of hotel operations, it wasn’t very comfortable to share the same check-in lobby with large groups having lunch. It made the space feel crowded and noisy, and the cozy, homey atmosphere we loved so much about Morrissey felt a little lost.||||On the bright side, the staff remain as friendly, attentive, and kind as always something we truly appreciate. Their warmth is what still makes Morrissey feel welcoming, and it’s the main reason we keep such fond memories...
