I’ve just spent two nights at Inn Possible Cliffhouse on a weekend break from Jakarta, in which my aim was to surf a lot, eat some fresh seafood, and breathe in as much clean air as possible before heading back to the city. I booked late and found Inn Possible on a booking website.||The location is right on Bingin Beach. You can hear the sound of the sea from your bed and step right out onto the sand. In fact the Cliffhouse is accessible via the beach (and some steep steps down from the road - beware any dodgy knees!) It’s at a quiet end of the beach, with very few people passing by except the odd surfer. Less than 100m away you can find laid back cafes and restaurants with beach BBQs and decks to watch the sunset with a cold Bintang. The area has a very laidback feeling to it. However, unless you have a moped/scooter, you are a 20+min unlit walk from the main road, so once you’re at Bingin, you won’t really want to go anywhere else in the evenings unless you have wheels or can get a lift.||I stayed in the grandly named King Suite, and slept like a log both nights. It has a lovely private balcony with nothing between you and the waves lapping the beach. The air con is virtually silent and the view in the morning or early evening is hard to beat. ||The restaurant area is comfortable, quiet and laid-back. The food is ok quality with international and Indonesian dishes (albeit tailored to western tastes - the fish curry is bland). Breakfast starts at 8 so don’t expect to be able to get a tea or coffee if you’re heading for an early surf. Dinner can put a lot of pressure on the few guys in the kitchen so order before you get hungry - it can take a while.||They arranged airport pick-up and drop-off for me, which all worked smoothly.||Service is v friendly but there is an opportunity to be a bit more flexible and solution-oriented. The particular example in mind concerns late check-out. I asked via the booking website whether I could pay for late check-out or even an extra night (my flight wasn’t until late in the evening). The message never got through or was ignored, and when I got there it was apparent that all rooms had been booked. I therefore asked if I could have a shower between surfing and leaving, to which the response was “it depends if the other rooms are occupied”. Anyway, thankfully a bathroom was free when I returned from surfing.||I later asked if there was a toilet to use, I was told no. When I asked “really?”, they said “only the staff toilet outside”. That would have been ok... as a guest you just want to know all the options rather than feel like you’re making a problem or embarrassing the staff. Part of this is a question of design (why on Earth is there no common toilet for non-guests to use if they are eating at the restaurant?) and part of this is about service, recognising completely fair customer requests and presenting options and solutions. ||In the end, there was a room vacant until I left at 9pm, which I would have been happy to pay for in order to have a shower and a nap and to use the facilities without feeling like I was on borrowed time, but this was deemed not possible.||Finally, there is no drinking water in the rooms and no water dispenser in the restaurant. You therefore have to buy bottled water from the restaurant. This is disappointing and is wasteful.||Would I stay here again? Maybe, maybe not. The location and accommodation (at least the room I stayed in) are great and the view is life-enhancing. But at $140 a night for the room (not far off the price of an international 5* hotel in Jakarta, although I accept not a like-for-like comparison), Inn Possible Cliffhouse management could tweak a few things to be good value for money as a...
Read moreRead till the end! I believe I have never rated anything that I didn’t wanna give 5 stars to. So this must be my first bad review on Google. First of all, we had an above-average stay. The rooms were basic but nice. There were some ants and bugs as described but it did not bother us. Small negatives were the constant rooster noise, dog barking, and some construction work during the day. That would have all led to a 4/5 star rating. Which I wouldn‘t have put online. The problem began with our daughter drawing some lines on the linen with her 100% removable watercolors. Long story short we were able to remove them (with good old German travel soap „Rei aus der Tube“ iykyk) even though the hotel claimed it wasn‘t possible. So we had to pay 1.2 Mio IDR for new sheets. We had them show us the receipts and great surprise we even had to cover for inflation. In the end, we paid the true amount of 925k (which still sucked). Well since we weren’t happy with it, we showed the staff how to remove the stains easily. This led to one of the staff guys hitting the bathroom table in front of our 2-year-old making her cry and getting so outraged that he asked me to quote “…take it outside” and fight with him. We also talked to the boss in Costa Rica who claimed that he could not show goodwill since his last hotel burned down…. Crazy completely unnecessary end to a nice stay caused by greed anger and the inability to revert someone’s opinion even after seeing that removing the stains was possible with his own eyes Recommendation: Only go if 100% sure you are ready to fight the staff! Don‘t go with kids. Just look for something else there are abundant options out there in the area. Btw there were already old stains on...
Read moreHi my review is a bit more detailed. We are in our 50s. I chose bingin for hubby to surf. Firstly the location is great, close to steps to Bingin beach . The staff are wonderful, the rooms very clean and pretty close to a few good restaurants. The room was quite large but had no fridge or tea n coffee facility. Yes you can get water cold n hot anytime and help yourself to drinks and put on your account. But it is very limited and well it's nice to have your own choice in your fridge and because of this we found the room was not good value for over $130 a night. Bingin itself well we don't think we would return. They had a couple of restaurants down on beach and prices pretty good but it is 210 steps each way. There was no surf for a few days and then raining alot .. no umbrellas provided either.. The restaurants around we believe are now more westernised. No real warungs and not much true Balinese food. Some are really quite expensive and meals a small size. This is all great but no other real Balinese options. Trying to find a traditional Balinese banana pancake was hard, unless you want to walk down 210 steps in the rain. But I had one and smothered with chocolate sauce?. This place obviously really suits some but I wanted to give you more information so you are more informed... As for the beach it's not a walking beach at all and no beach chairs or umbrellas to sit on. Yes I no there are other beaches around but we did not want to jet around on a motor bike ... I hope this helps so you can look at other options. If you want a true authentic Balinese place to stay Bingin is not it in...
