Do NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL. Firstly, let me talk about the pros- Rooms are clean and big. Behaviour of one lady at the reception was really nice. Cons- The owner/social media manager of this hotel went on to several reviews to respond that they do provide refill of drinking water at their 4th floor. However, upon specifically asking whether that service is available, we were told “no refill of waters” apart from the 500 ml they provide everyday.
The alleys of the hotel has awful snake prints. It will feel like you are walking through snakes embracing you all around. Thankfully, they understood the problem and they changed my room to 2201, which was directly opposite to the lift and didn’t pass through the alleys. Can’t call it a con per se but if you have issues with snakes, you will not be able to survive here.
they write they have free luggage storage facilities. However, after staying 3 nights, they refused to hold on to our luggage for 3 hours after check our, because “you are going to stay in another hotel after us. We will only keep your luggage if you stay with our hotel again”. I have been to 16 countries, countless hotels, some questionable ones but literally not a single hotel has refused to keep our luggage, if our flight was a few hours after check out time, not even if we had stayed for one hour. All hotels will store your luggage even if you stay for one day. We have flight to Lombok a few hours after check out but they refused to hold on to the luggage for 3 hours. I can’t even argue with such ridiculousness. Why they mention free luggage storage is beyond my understanding.
the restaurant is absolutely rubbish- horrible cooking, pathetic portion size. We had ordered one pasta to our room. Couldn’t finish it during lunch due to poor taste. Wanted to get it reheated for dinner. They said there is 25000 IDR charge for reheating food, that was bought from their own restaurant, just a couple of hours back.
Huge displays about ‘any stain in towels from sunscreen/makeup- we will charge you for towel replacement”. We haven’t touched their towels for anything other than wiping off the water dripping from their ac, owing to such ridiculous warnings.
They refuse to send food to the room, despite requesting that we have a baby and baby is asleep. We are unable to come upstairs to eat. The response you get would b e”we are busy with dinner/no room service now”. After multiple requests, we finally went to eat lunch upstairs, withour AC, with the baby screaming.. Finally ate some, ordered a pasta to be sent to room, which they refused to reheat.
Their wifi logs you out every few seconds. I am not even kidding literally every few seconds! You can’t take a meeting from here or engage in a whatsapp chat without getting logged out over and over. They claim they log you out when you aren’t using it but I had to say “poor wifi” as a reason for multiple cut offs during an audio meeting. Feels awful when you aren’t even paying a very less amount, considering the place is Bali.
People come for a vacation to create memories. Unfortunately, such pathetic service leaves a poor taste if you and you leave with bitter memories. I don’t know if it a problem with Bali in general or is it this hotel. Out of the 3 days already spent here, I tried to hold on to the good things but after they blatantly refused to keep the luggage for 3 hours, after staying for 3 days, while mentioning in their booking page about free luggage storage, I do regret this hotel. I have to roam around Bali tomorrow, in extreme heat, with a baby, with 3 luggage and a stroller. Had I known this, I would have booked another hotel/taken another flight.
Had the owner not lied in every review about refill of water available on 4th floor, I would have changed hotel as we came with a baby and as much water we can buy from outside, it is an added inconvenience.
Also, the swimming pool does overlook the ocean but you can’t see the ocean while you are...
Read moreMy family and I stayed in Sulis from 14th to 22nd December. We requested for connecting rooms facing the ocean and in the high floor. We did receive our rooms in the high floor but it did not have the view we asked for, even though we booked the hotel a month prior to our trip. In general, the rooms were very spacious and it came with a wide balcony facing the street, where my family and I enjoyed having our meals at. The hotel had a pool in the rooftop with a very beautiful view of the ocean! We enjoyed the amenities the hotel had provided to us, beach was right in front of us - about 100 m away from the hotel - and the hotel is located 10 minutes away from the airport and a nearby mall called lippo mall. If you're an Indian, looking to have spicy indian food, then you should not consider this hotel. They only provide simple American, English, Indonesian and Kid's breakfasts. The portion is considerably small and the food tastes very bland. They claimed that they have buffet breakfast in their website and in other booking platforms. However, they do not provide such service. They only serve al-a-cart meals. Every option in their menu contains the same item with just an item different from the other menu options. They served us the same fruits for breakfast everyday - watermelon, pineapple and banana. The restaurant pre-packs their fruits. When the fruits were served, they were not fresh, banana in particular was often overly ripened and did not look appetising at all. Orange juice was served as a default everyday. When asked for a different juice, the server said that they only have orange juice. However, the restaurant did allow us to customise our meal options. Even though we had clearly written on their ordering slip of our special requests, they did serve our meals incorrectly several times. We had to send back our meals and wait for a very long time. They got very upset and kept showing their stuck up faces. The Person in charge of the restaurant named 'bagus' kept saying that our meals were complimentary. He kept replying to us arrogantly saying that, since our meals comes free, we can't choose our meal options. But in actual case, we had paid extra to have breakfast included. Bagus greatly offended us when he repeatedly said that the breakfast is complimentary without knowing and checking with their reception.
The hotel does not provide flip flops, iron board & iron. They provided a huge refrigerator to store our leftovers and etc... They could have also provided a mini microwave to heat up our food. Each time we sent our food for heating up, they charged us 20k for each container, FYI. The room service did a poor job on cleaning our sheets and room the first day. We noticed that there were blood stains and more on the sheets. We realised that they had just worn the same sheets on, making it seem like they had replaced them with a new one. As a result of such filthy sheets, all of us were sneezing and itching all night, and could not sleep peacefully. So, we called the room service and showed the stains to them and requested for a total room make over as the toilet and the tables had the coffee stains and etc. We had left for our activities at 3am and arrived back to our hotel at about 4:30pm. We then requested for a room service, the cleaners reluctantly said that the room service timing is over and they can't clean our room. The cleaners seemed very frustrated and unhappy that we had asked them to replace the sheets and that they had to do a overhaul make over of our rooms. They were cursing to each other about us in their balinese language, not knowing that we understood their language. They brought in almost 20 clean sheets and all of them had stains and the cleaners were determined to provide us a stain - free sheet. Probably the laundry service didn't do a good job cleaning the dirty sheets. On the subsequent days, the cleaners did a great job cleaning our rooms, but our meals at breakfast were...
Read moreWe loved our stay at Sulis and would recommend it! Here's the pros and cons we experienced:
Location: Situated at a 2 minute walking distance to the beach.
Room - welcome prepared ahead. What a lovely, romantic welcome for our honeymoon! Towels very creatively arranged every day after room make-up. Fruit plate per person on arrival. Concierge, reception, spa and restaurant staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Clean rooms, clean sheets, very comfortable bed and pillows, very effective fixed hairdryer in bathroom compared to the other three hotels we stayed at, lockable safe in room, good aircon! Foldable two-way cosmetic mirror fixed to bathroom wall adjacent to the wall mirror. Clean bathroom, well-lit, spacious shower cubicle with effective shower pressure and water temperature.
3rd Floor - was noisy above us...appeared to be from 4th floor restaurant kitchen...lots of movement (sounds like furniture being moved and there were lots of knocking sounds around midday), made it difficult to get an afternoon nap and I used to wake-up before my alarm due to the noise to get ready for breakfast. Upon our initial request that we were on honeymoon, we were informed we would get a quiet room.
Restaurant - chilled glasses to serve beer! Variety of local (Balinese and Indonesian soups, chicken, pork and seafood) and western dishes (pasta, pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, seafoods) with limited options per category but well-prepared and delicious dishes. Pizza oven wasn't working. Softdrinks, milkshakes, a variety of cocktails, mocktails, shooters, large variety of fruit juices, small selection of wines (Two Island and De Bortoli), a few whisky options and under beers...Bintang, Guinness Stout, Heineken and Smirnoff Ice. View of the beach and a lovely display of colour from surrounding hotels at night. You can also see the planes descending for landing as the airport is close by.
Spa - Loved the in-house spa. We booked ahead before arriving in Bali. Pendi and Indra. Excellent service and treatment. 5 hour Couple's Package. Comfort and privacy. We both had heat rash on arms and legs but the staff were still very professional. Separate treatment rooms for massage, private use of outdoor jacuzzi and nearby sauna (10 minute each). Mani and Pedi treatment room is separate with fully set-up spa chairs and work stations. Welcome drinks (fruit juices), fruit platter and ginger tea after spa bath and a lovely dinner at the restaurant at end of treatment.
Pool - the rooftop pool is huge and looks well-maintained. We were disappointed that the loungers didn't have cushions but left hard backed. Very uncomfortable if you have...
