Inedible Sushi, Slow Service, and Poor Quality Ingredients
I had an extremely disappointing dining experience at Norm's Sushi Bar and cannot recommend this establishment to anyone seeking quality sushi and service.
To start, the hamachi (yellowtail) nigiri I ordered had an unacceptable issue - there was an actual spine left in the fish, making it extremely unpleasant and difficult to eat. This is a clear sign of careless preparation and a lack of attention to detail.
But the problems didn't end there. The service was also extremely slow - it took nearly 20 minutes for my sushi set to arrive after ordering, which is an unacceptably long wait time.
And the quality of the sushi itself was garbage. Several items I sampled, including the tuna and salmon, had a distinctly fishy and unappetizing taste and smell. It was evident the fish was not fresh, and had likely been frozen and thawed recently before being served.
The tuna in particular tasted cold, rubbery, and devoid of the vibrant, melt-in-your-mouth texture I expect from high-quality tuna sushi. And the salmon had a weird, off-putting taste and felt like it had been thawed just before my meal.
The overall presentation and craftsmanship of the sushi was also poor, with poorly packed rice and uneven cuts. I understand sushi can be an acquired taste, but this was a far cry from the fresh, expertly prepared sushi I've had at reputable Japanese restaurants.
The flavors were off, the textures were unpleasant, and I honestly couldn't finish most of what was served. The service was slow, and the restaurant had a decent enough ambiance. But at the end of the day, the food quality and timeliness of service are what matter most at a sushi establishment - and Norm's Sushi Bar failed on both fronts.
I won't be returning, and I certainly can't recommend this place to anyone seeking an authentic and enjoyable sushi experience. There are far better sushi options available in the area that don't serve such poor quality ingredients with such...

If you’re in Kuta, Badung and craving an incredible fusion of Italian and Japanese flavors, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. The ambiance is modern yet cozy, creating the perfect unforgettable meal. I recently had the pleasure of ordering their Fettuccine Carbonara, Avocado Roll, and Eel Roll, and I was blown away by both the taste and presentation.
Creamy and Perfectly Balanced The fettuccine carbonara was nothing short of spectacular. The pasta was cooked to perfection, with the sauce rich and creamy but never overwhelming. The flavors of the crispy pancetta mixed harmoniously with the velvety carbonara sauce, creating a dish that’s both indulgent and satisfying. The balance between the creamy texture and savory ingredients made every bite a delight.
Sushi Rolls: Fresh and Flavorful
Avocado Roll: This roll was light and refreshing, with the avocado providing a buttery smoothness that paired wonderfully with the delicate sushi rice. It was simple, but the freshness of the ingredients really stood out. Eel Roll: This was the star of the sushi selection! The eel was perfectly cooked, with a smoky, sweet flavor that contrasted beautifully with the soft texture of the rice and the subtle tang of the sauce. The roll was topped with just the right amount of sauce, enhancing the flavor without overpowering the delicate eel. Service: A Special Mention to Diana the service was impeccable, and Diana, our waitress, was a true gem. She was attentive and knowledgeable, and her friendly personality made the dining experience even better. She ensured that everything was to our satisfaction and really made us feel welcome.
Conclusion Whether you’re in the mood for a rich, creamy fettuccine carbonara or fresh, flavorful sushi like the avocado and eel rolls, this spot in Kuta, Badung has it all. The combination of delicious food and top-notch service, especially with Diana's attentive care, makes it a standout dining experience. Highly...
Read moreI went here for a dinner with my family.
Food: The food was good. I ordered double beef burger, bento box with salmon and another bento with beef yakiniku. All the food were tasty but our proteins were overcooked. Burger patties a bit dry from overcooked, same goes with salmon and beef yakiniku. If those proteins were cooked perfectly, I bet it will taste so much better. The presentation about the burger is also not that appetizing.
Service: All good. They are explaining the food well and took the order accurately. The staffs are also friendly and knows the menu well.
Places: It was quite spacious. They have outdoor and indoor. They also have a playground for kids. The place needs a bit more decoration to make it less empty but as for now it's already fine. My only suggestion is to improve the cleanliness. It was not dirty but still can be cleaner.
Overall, I had a good time there. All thing went quite well. There is still rooms for improvements but I will be back if I come back around the...
