We chose REGALI VILLAS in Canggu for our four-night stay in Bali and we were wrong. We were looking for a Balinese villa-style accommodation with a private pool and REGALI VILLAS certainly is. I must admit that these villas must have been exceptional in their day, as the design and quality of the original materials suggest so, but the passing of the years and the practically zero investment in maintenance made by the owners mean that these villas are not in their best condition by any means. If you look at the photos circulating on the networks and on their website, it seems that we are looking at a luxury accommodation, but this is far from the case. The numerous comments highlighting the poor condition of the facilities confirm this.
Despite their good location, the most positive thing, close to the beach, the villas are frankly run down. The thatched roofs should be replaced, there were lights that didn't work, some lamps in very poor condition should be replaced, the shower taps were in poor condition, the sun loungers by the pool were in very poor condition and did not invite use and needed replacing, the bathtub was not to be used, with fungus stains, etc.
Other aspects that disappointed us were the breakfasts, served in the villas, very scarce and repetitive, served almost cold, and the poor cleanliness. The pool, which already needs emptying and a thorough cleaning, was not cleaned of leaves and insects during our entire stay. On the ceiling of the room there was a gecko-type lizard that frequently defecated on the floor of the room, a circumstance that we brought to the attention of reception. In the kitchen, outdoors, bags of food, such as potato chips, nuts, biscuits, etc., disappeared. We found out that it was not a person who had access to the villa, but rather an animal that wandered around the outdoor areas of the villa at night. The only good thing is that the price of the villas was not high. The same villas in a proper state of repair would surely be much more expensive. But where does this situation lead if the owners continue not to invest in the facilities…?
In view of all this, my recommendation to the traveller looking for this type of accommodation in Bali is not to be convinced by appearances and price and to look for other Balinese villa-type hotels that, although a little more expensive, are in adequate condition. And do not doubt that there is plenty to choose from.
I am sorry to make such a negative review, but we were very...
