We finally visited this famous place! Everytime we passed this place it was always busy even when they were still in Batu Bolong Street. Based on my experience, I have so much to say about this place!
First, I can start with their service from the moment we arrived at the restaurant. The security received us with politeness, unfortunately we were not able to get table straight away since it was very busy inside and we will have to put our name on the waiting list if we are willing to wait and we said yes. Then the security confirming to the server inside about how long we will have to wait for the list, he came back with information for us to wait for 30 minutes. We told the security that we will drive around to kill time.
Before 30 minutes we came back and apparently the table is ready for us. The security showed us they way to the door and before the door the friendly server already greet us and ready to walk us to our table. Once we were nicely seated, she gave us the menu.
We decided to order Breakfast of Champion, Textural of Mushroom (Server Recommendation) and Ice Long Black. Without waiting for too long, the food were served in no time. We were amazed on the plating of the food, it was beautifully plated. I was a little confused on how to actually eat the Texture of Mushroom but then the server politely let me know how to eat it. Another one point for the service.
Second, let me tell you about the food! The food were amazingly good. From Breakfast of Champion, we experienced the variety of taste starting from sweetness of the chicken, savory of the egg and sour of the pickled Daikon. All those flavors blended amazingly. The second meal was Texture of Mushroom! One of the best food I have ever tasted! I personally love savory food and this meal has it all. Mixed of mushroom, slices of seaweed, egg yolk and rye bread. All my faves! Turned out it was delicious! So to us this place serves amazing quality of food.
Third, their coffee! I separate this section because we both are coffee lover and coffee critics. Their coffee was AMAZING! My husband said it's the best coffee he's ever tasted in Bali. If I am not mistaken the coffee are mixed of Toraja, Kintamani and Papua. The taste of strong yet light so you don't really taste the bitterness too much.
Fourth, when they were still in Batu Bolong we always see a dog sitting in front of the restaurant. Apparently, the dog named Benny and he is also at the new place and they took care of him. He was even in the House Rules! Another extra point since we love dogs!
Once we were done and ready to pay, the owner was there with Benny the Dog! He was very friendly.
All and all the experience was amazing and for sure...
Read moreTerrible decision to drive 30 minutes to get the worst experience ever in Bali. Their attitude is everything else but not welcoming. This is not hospitality!!! From the security to the management. They didn’t try to help but just making fun of us in their language laughing instead of giving us directions about where to park. The staff of this place is loosing the essence of hospitality offered by Balinese people. The food is overestimated. There is nothing similar to Japanese (if you have travelled to Japan you will be disappointed) Is just the shein version of the experience that the name wants to sell you. I really don’t understand the hype!
Anyway we arrived there and we park the car. The security guy asked how many people we were ( 3) and then he said “just a moment” Started speaking with his colleagues and laughing leaving us standing outside for 10 minutes while they decided where to let us park. Then they finally decided we had to drive 10 minutes more to find a parking area close to the beach and then come back by walk (20 minutes of walking) Telling us nothing else than this. The restaurant was empty (there was not much to do) at that time we arrived and two security guys were just standing instead of offering us to guide my husband to the parking lot and drive him back to the cafe. I asked many times and they kept laughing and speaking between them their own language. Suggesting to go (we didn’t know where was the parking since there was 10 minutes driving) and then order a driver from the app to reach there again which we refuse to do cause it was insane. They should have offered a service since they don’t have a parking area (as many places do) My husband parked close by in a street that was apparently abandoned. The police came and I kindly ask to the staff to wait to prepare our food til my husband came back. But after 10 minutes we got the food and the coffee anyway. I ate everything cold ALONE while my husband was waiting in the car. Cause instead of helping they preferred to laugh at us and having fun while pointing out my husband every time he drove by because he couldn't find the parking spot. Congrats! What an engaging staff.
Ah! The funniest part is that we had not given any discount, my husband's coffee was not offered or remade. They reheated it when I was leaving. How much did it cost you to remake a coffee? Or give a discount? It would have been...
Read moreI just moved this place from my "need to eat here" to "favourites" list on gmaps.
The queue was a good sign of how popular this place is : I waited about 30mins + before being seated. It's a small dining area maybe about 30 seats or less so be patient! Also try coming on odd hours so you don't have to queue outside, it's pretty hot and humid.
Ambience was nothing like in Canggu, crowd of local Indonesians were giving me the Pluit/Jakarta Chinatown vibe 😂 And despite having 3 aircons and one standing fan and another 2 ceiling fans, it's still hot inside, I was guessing it's the open kitchen sending us the hot air?
For the food, this is one of the best Asian fusion I've tried in Canggu - umami all the way! The dry ramen, pork belly rice bowl, and charred corn were fantastic. Ice cream sandwich was excellent and refreshing too thanks to the splash of lime. Mocktails were cheaper than teas so that's a good reason to order two! Our orders came out in short time too, and WiFi worked well.
Service was beyond doubt, amazing. Kind, attentive, informative - not the borderline of irritating type you get in other high end places. Considering it's a rush hour I salute the team, seeing how they tried to make all guests feel comfortable. I also liked the kind gestures of giving us wet tissue, and owner came to us checking our food ✅ Our table was cleaned before next serving so that's a double bonus point. Well done Sensorium!
PS: There's no dedicated car/motorbikes parking so please be mindful and park on roadside or other empty lot. PPS: One tiny toilet might need more cleaning. PPPS: Your menu book needs a new print, I can imagine all those hungry fingers flipping thru pages and drooling and arguing which one to order.
