This charming coffee shop was just a three-minute walk from two of our favorite restaurants in Bali. We actually passed it multiple times during our stay, but fate, it seems, had a special (poor) timing in mind for our first visit.
On our last day, a whiteboard display by the window truly captivated me. It featured fascinating graphs and notes, detailing how the roaster interpreted the impact of various parameters on the overall roast. This immediately piqued my interest, as I perceived that being the immense passion emanating from their craft.
I've always believed that if someone pours that much effort into their work, their offerings surely wouldn't disappoint and it didn't.
My order was a Canggu Blend Flat White with their homemade cashew milk. I absolutely loved the rich, robust flavor of the beans and how perfectly it blended with the cashew milk, which had a delightful, intense cinnamon note. It tasted like a less sweet, more espresso-forward version of a pumpkin spiced latte.
We enjoyed it so much that we sought out another one of their outlets after lunch for a second cup. 15-mins ago, my partner mentioned how much she's missing that unique concoction, and...

Sad to see this place a shadow of what the original blacklist was.
Staff lack passion, pride and product knowledge in their work. I asked for a coffee that is less funky and was recommended the Wanoja. Found it quite odd that I was recommended a Natural coffee for something less funky, and double checked on the meaning of Extended Natural - which is a coffee fermented for long periods - meaning even more funk.
Did not enjoy my coffee at all. Coffee was over extracted and roasty. Gave the staff the feedback that I didnât enjoy but seems like there was a miscommunication, they seem to think it was ok.
All in all, a miss for me. I think goat father and a few other spots in bali serve better coffee.
Pro Tip - if looking to serve coffee in a wine glass, it might be worth making sure there are no water mars on the glass. Doesnât affect the taste but the aesthetic doesnât quite match.
Didnât finish my coffee as it was too roasty and funky but the employees again didnât...
Read moreModern coffee shop with quality beans. I ordered an Ethiopian coffee as a pour over, and it was very nice. However, the AC was so intense that I felt like it was interrupting the natural cooling process of the coffee. Maybe I'm being picky! My partner ordered a flat white with oat milk, brewed with the pitch blend. She enjoyed it, the texture was spot on with a good milk-espresso ratio. Both coffees were served with a little information card which I always appreciate. The person serving us was friendly and welcoming, however no chat about coffee. It was pretty busy when we arrived, and despite there being little metal things on the tables stating that "this is not a co-working space", it definitely felt like one. Every second person was sitting with laptops out which for me, kills the vibe of a speciality coffee shop. Overall, a good coffee shop offering...
