Do not book this hotel if any of your party has accessibility needs. I was told from friends and read glowing reviews, all of which implied this hotel was a great option in the Galway area for visitors with accessibility needs but that was not our experience at all. We booked an accessible room months in advance but when we arrived during our long-anticipated vacation, we were not given this. I immediately brought up this issue with reception and was connected to an assistant manager who explained the best they could do would be to move us into an accessible room the next day. No apologies, no real concern. Needless to say we weren't happy but at least it was some sort of solution. When I returned to the reception desk the next afternoon after our pre-scheduled outing of the day, I was told they had already given away the room and there was nothing that could be done for the rest of our stay. The reception staff even went so far as implying that it was my fault because I did not come earlier in the day to request the change. This expectation had never been communicated to us and I was under the impression that the change had already been booked into their system. Why would I have to come again to request this change? Why was the room showing in their system as available when I had spoken with multiple team members including management about the change?
Needless to say, this created a significant negative impact on the remainder of our trip as my mother was in pain for the next 5 days due to the inappropriate lodging. When it was made clear to me by the staff that they were not going to seek any other solutions to help rectify the situation and could care less about my mother's needs, I attempted to find alternative lodging but everything was booked and so we had no choice but to spend the remainder of our time in Galway at this hotel. Of our entire trip to the country, this was the only lodging in which we had a negative experience (to put it lightly) and it was by far the most expensive. The stark contrast between the quality of the staff, food, and rooms at the Galway Bay Hotel and all other hotels we experienced was night and day. Do yourself a favor and...
Read moreI had the fortune to visit the restaurant, which by the way has a cozy atmosphere, and I ordered a burger that was delicious! I'm very happy with the service of ...he was very attentive great job!
I was in Galway City for the evening with my friend, and we were enjoying the Christmas Market and the festive atmosphere in town. As we walked around we got hungry, and decided to pop in somewhere for a bite to eat. We did not have a booking, and everywhere in town was booked out.
So we googled restaurants in Salthill and the first one that grabbed our attention was The Galway Bay Hotel we called the restaurant and were greeted on the phone by a very friendly member of staff. We asked for a table for two and they reserved one for us right away.
We arrived to the restaurant and were again greeted warmly by a girl at reception. She gave us our table.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was very nice. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Our waiter told us the specials and gave us his recommendation after we told him what we were looking for.
The food arrived quickly, and it was delicious.
The manager Martin Tocha came to our table, and was very nice and friendly, and made great time for us and made us feel very welcome and at home. The burger was very tasty. One of the best I've had in Galway. It was juicy, and perfectly cooked. The bun was toasted to perfection. The fries were great.
We had a nice experience, it was very pleasant. I will definitely be going back again soon.
Definitely one of the best burgers I have eaten in Galway so far. Overall I would give it...
Read moreWe had our wedding earlier this year in the beautiful Galway Bay Hotel. We had both our ceremony and afters here. The ceremony was magical, out on the terrace in the sunshine with panoramic views overlooking Galway Bay. Then our guests were treated to a drinks reception while we went with our photographer to take photos in the beautiful gardens next door and the stunning beach across the road. Everything was so close and convenient for the photos and by all accounts the drinks, finger food and atmosphere at the reception were lovely. Later we returned for the meal and again everything was delicious. Everyone complimented the beautiful food and wine. In the beginning, when we first reached out to the hotel, we were dealing with Alannah who helped us understand and navigate the various packages, customisations and prices on offer. Later, as we got closer to the wedding, Alannah handed over to Louise, who would be our wedding coordinator for the day. Both ladies were lovely to deal with, always happy to answer any queries we had or help us work and plan with the various wedding vendors. On the day, Louise took charge of things and had everything running like clockwork. Everything was perfect and went exactly as planned. Finally, the rooms were beautiful and our wedding guests that stayed overnight had nothing but compliments. Highly recommended as a wedding venue. Beautiful location, breathtaking views and rest assured that you’ll be in safe hands with Louise, Alannah and the rest...
