Nest is a wonderful reimagining of a hostel, it has double rooms as well as the usual dormitories. The communal area is probably unique and requires a bit of explaining, there is a small café on site, offering coffee and cakes etc, then there is a large, bright seating area and a terrace outside, there is also a commercial sized kitchen and fridges for you to store and cook your own food if you so wish. The seating areas are available for use if you have a takeaway, all crockery and cutlery is available in the kitchen, just make sure you wash it up and put it away again. The kitchen has an endless supply of free tea and coffee, various types of milk and waters. The room was cozy, ground floor with parking right outside, no lugging of heavy cases up any stairs, key card access and an epic shower with the ability to sandblast the most weary of travellers. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms are clean and welcoming. Free WiFi throughout. No TV but that was quite pleasant actually and everyone has a phone or iPad these days so we didn't miss having one. Nest's location in Salthill is excellent, buses stop right outside and it is €1.80 to get into Galway. Salthill is very nice, lovely prom, chemists, convenience stores, restaurants, takeaways, cafés, pubs, bars, aquarium and a cinema.......and a couple of amusement arcades if that's your thing.

It’s a 5-star rate despite the price for the night was so high imo. It was worth it staying there but I found almost 150€ per night a little bit overpriced. Nevertheless, we had a private double-connected room with ensuite bathroom that was comfy, well decorated, spacious, not noisy at all. It’s a nice boutique styled with a few common areas to relax. Not so much of a hostel to hang up or meet people but suitable for everybody, even families or solo travellers. Would stay there again for sure!

I've been traveling through Europe for over 3 weeks now, and have stayed in many different hostels. The Nest is still hands down the best hostel I've stayed in for a number of reasons. Comfiest bed, spotless rooms, nice showers and toilets, and an awesome breakfast to wake up to (see picture). It's quite quiet and peaceful, not a party hostel.

I was on a shared 6-bedroom (3 bunk beds) dormitory.

Pros: *The staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. *The bathroom on the room was very spacious, with enough room to move around comfortably. Towels are also provided. *There is a fully equipped kitchen available for use, with complimentary tea and coffee. *The beds are comfortable with 2 pillows and towels provided. I also got a small candy with the Logo on it which was nice.

Cons: *Each bunk bed had a light, however if the person in the top bed had it on, you could see it very brightly in the bottom bed as if the light was on in that one too. It got very annoying when trying to sleep and the person above was still doing stuff.

*There were curtains on the front side of the beds which were blackout curtains, really good. However these were only on 1 side, and with bunk beds next to each other you could completely see the other people from the other side. We had to put a towel in between to have some privacy. Having curtains on all sides could help solve this issue and the one above about the lights.

*The lobby area, reception, kitchen and the elevators locks after midnight. The only problem I find with this is that in case of urgency it would be difficult to reach someone, and you have to take the stairs with all your luggage if you have an early check our. There is a message with a phone number and a WhatsApp though, but they take some time to answer.

Location: It is located in Salthill, close enough to Galway. 15 min bus ride or 25 min walking. There is a bus stop right outside the hostel which is convenient if you are using...

What a cool hostel! We (a couple) stayed in a double room with ensuite bathroom, and it was super spacious for a hostel, very clean, quiet and comfy. Really appreciated the mini fridge, since the main kitchen was in a different building. Great water pressure in the shower, but it was also a little too powerful for the tiny sink - really hard to not get water everywhere when washing hands, etc. Lovely, cozy common areas and beautiful shared kitchen for cooking. Only small complaint is there's just one shared washer and dryer which aren't supposed to be used after 9pm, so getting laundry done was a little more of a hassle than anticipated. Important to know the Nest's parking lot is tiny but if it's full they'll let you park to load/unload, which was nice. We were lucky to find free street parking nearby and didn't have to use the car again until we left. GREAT location in Salthill - convenient and easy walk to everything we needed. There's a Centra just down the street for basic groceries, and Oslo Bar is great for locally brewed beer. It was super stormy during our stay so we didn't get to enjoy the promenade and beaches as much as we hoped to, but the proximity adds even more value. The Galway hop on/off bus was a good option to get around and see a lot of the city without having to walk in the wind and rain the whole time. It has a few stops in Salthill, so a good way to get back after...

This was my first time solo travelling at a hostel, I booked a 6 bed female dormitory and I stayed for 5 nights, it was so lovely the room was cleaned everyday up-to a high standard, I paid €8 for breakfast everyday which was very reasonable for what was on offer, there were fresh pastries, fruit, yoghurt, bread, cheese, jam, chocolate spread, fruit juices and water and tea and french press coffee were offered by a member of staff every morning who then brought it to your table. There is also an outdoor seating area as well which was lovely to sit at. The staff were always pleasant, friendly and helpful. It’s a 5 minute walk to the beach and the bus from the city centre is right outside the hostel and to go to the city centre is a 2 minute walk across from the texaco garage. The sun was shining everyday while I was there (quite unusual for Ireland) but we had the window open every night due to this but it was a pleasant sleep. There are privacy curtains on the beds and each bed has a light and plug sockets, the private en-suite bathroom was equipped with a hand towel, hand wash, shampoo and body wash (no conditioner unfortunately but I had my own conditioner) there was also a large towel on the bed with a piece of Galway rock on top as well which was a very nice touch. I would 100% recommend this place and I will definitely be back to stay again as it...
