I recommended to bring my relatives from America and England here last evening. What a pleasant surprise, a once very dated and tired hotel/bar has been transformed by a local couple during these tough times into an ‘absolute gem‘. Hidden in the heart of salthill just off the promenade, in the quite residential area of Rockbarton salthill, you will find a beautifully transformed building. From arrival you are greeted with a warm welcome and directed into a very cosy bar/restaurant. The decor resembles that of an antique Chique venue with new freshness meeting old school in boutique style colours and furnishings, giving an immediate sense of warmth And coziness. The food was fantastic thanks to head chef Jay, I had hot chicken wings with a perfect blue cheese dip, a taste of the yummy black pudding croquettes and a perfectly cooked medium steak With all the trimmings, washed down with a fabulous Merlot served at perfect temperature. The kids had the best garlic bread EVER! Apparently! I Can’t wait to go back and try more of what’s on offer, and our visitors felt the same. We had a lovely secluded area of the bar which gave us the privacy we requested yet The enjoyment of Being in a vibrant energetic new venue. The owners where there serving food and clearing tables being extremely attentive yet not overwhelming to our service needs which reflects their commitment to quality. So wonderful to see such positivity during these very strange times. Now more than ever we all need to support or own people and our local businesses. If it’s a staycation your after Please take the time to visit, eat or stay in this lovely hotel as I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. ||Bridie...
Read moreWould not recommend. My friend booked a quadruple room for 4 adults for €108 when we got there we were told they don’t do that room anymore even tho we had it booked and confirmed and in writing. They wanted to give us 2 double rooms and not for the price of €108. They wanted to charge us €190 and wanted €100 deposit each off me and my friends. There was no warning or were we advised before arrival that the hotel wanted a deposit. We refused to take that as we went up to galway with just enough for hotel and food and a few drinks in the city, we are in the middle of a pandemic what girls in there 20’s have 100’s on them for deposits that they weren’t advised of? The manager came out for all of 60 seconds with his hands in his jacket pockets and walked away rudely. The lady we dealt with looked down at our bags as well and said people have trashed the place while drinking before all this lady could see was multi packs of hunky Dorys and 6 bottles of lucozade. We declined and the lady was very shocked and said so you’re not going to take the room for this price in Galway city?!? It was in salt hill. We kindly said no and booked into the western tavern in the actually city and in that hotel we were welcomed with open arms and not asked for a deposit and had a lovely stay! Just goes to show what some hotels are like. I am so appalled with the way me and my friends...

You can find hand sanitation points at the entrance. ||||5-10 min walk to salthill promenade, so handy if you want to stay local in salthill but about 25 mins walk to Galway city centre.||||A handful of free parking spaces at the front of the place but you also have free on street parking along the street if those are not available.||||Room is quite small considering the size of the bed. Very small storage space. Suitcases had to be on the floor right at the end of the bed so very easy to trip over when moving around in the room or walking to the toilet. ||||No Kettle ot tea facilities in the room and no b&b option available. Only room. ||||Room was super noisy right on top of the bar, it was pretty much like being inside the bar music super loud, only no noise once the...
