We have just returned home from our second stay at Le Terrazze ... and already made a booking for next year. That probably tells you that we like the place very much indeed. ||Firstly, the people who run it are so very nice. Always smiling and helpful, easy to talk to in English - and an interesting chat can be had any time you pass Reception. The ladies who clean the rooms each day are always smiling and helpful and go above and beyond what one expects.||The entire premises - the rooms, reception, terrace, etc. are clean, attractive and cared for.||The location: with the magnificent beach on one side and the shopping street on the other, surrounded by restaurants, gelato shops, etc. and only a 10 minute walk from Alassio railway station is perfection. ||The narrow paved path between the front door and the beach is 99% traffic free. From 1 October each year, the beach huts, umbrellas, etc. are largely removed, and the beach returns to pretty much its natural state.||The rooms provide a pretty comfortable bed, lots of storage space, safe, a kitchenette with 2 electric rings, a proper fridge, sink, microwave, electric kettle and a very good selection of plates, pots and pans, etc. Being British and liking a good cup of tea, we take a couple of decent capacity mugs along with us. There is also a bathroom with stand-up shower, sink, bidet and loo.||Although there is no street level garden (apart from attractive vegetation on the path up to the entrance), there are lovely sea-side terraces with tables, chairs, umbrellas and plants anytime you wish to use them.||If you wish to eat in the apartment, there are plenty of good quality places to buy food, including a comprehensive Carrefour supermarket a couple of blocks inland (5 minute walk).||There is local public parking for cars, but it isn't cheap and is a couple of blocks walk away ... and you really have no need for a car in Alassio. We flew in to Genoa this year and just took the train along, which was easy and convenient.||In our opinion, Alassio has everything ... and we would never stay anywhere but...
Read moreWe've traveled almost every mile of coast from Sweden to Greece, visited two dozen Greek islands, and taken independent driving tours of Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, Malta, Majorca, Madeira, Morocco and Turkey. While we have enjoyed all of these places and the people we have met there, we keep coming back to Alassio and Le Terrazze twice a year. We have stayed in a lot fancier places, and some modest ones. There is a warmth and sincerity to the town and our host family that makes us feel truly this is our second home.||||Just a few meters from and with an unobstructed view of the ocean, every morning and evening provides an incomparable sunrise and sunset. Perhaps you might find a remote South Sea or Caribbean beach that is more pristine. But the close proximity of congenial and modest bars and restaurants, the mostly pedestrianized narrow promenade, and the dog and stroller friendly atmosphere, makes this a very delightful venue to wade into and be a part of the local life. We especially enjoy the Winter and Fall, when the town is not as crowded as Summer.||||The efficiency apartments are elegant and comfortable with small balconies and access to large terraces suitable for outdoor dining, lounging or daydreaming. The accommodations are spotless, with towels and toiletries that far exceed what one usually finds at the three star level. A small kitchen and a decent selection of dishes, cutlery, pans, etc. provide the option for some cooking and utilization of the bounty of local gastronomias. With over a hundred restaurants in town from basic to high end, we usually dine out.||||The miniature gym and spa facilities are another valuable asset. Extensive satellite television access and wifi will keep you in touch with the outside world if you wish. I've written many positive reviews about Le Terrazze. Our loyalty is based on the truly unique location and even more on the splendid family and staff that have put their hearts and souls into making you...
Read moreIf you travel a lot, a few hotels linger in your mind as being close to perfection . If you have had the experience of renting a house or an apartment, again a small percentage of them border on being ideal. Apartment Hotels or Residences, a hybrid of the two also can range from magnificent to adequate. For nearly 30 years, Residence Le Terrazze has been our second home in Alassio and there is no place we would rather stay.||||The facilities are thoughtfully and generously assembled. While the apartments are not luxurious, they are extremely comfortable, spotlessly clean|| and very fair value. The location along the best part of the town beach is incomparable. But what raises everything to the top level is the genuine and generous hospitality of the Mantellassi family and their lovely staff. If you are the type of person(s) who value your privacy, it will be fully respected. If you want or need help in any aspect of your vacation, expert and thoughtful advice is readily at hand.||||Their website fairly and fully describes the facilities. What you can't easily put into words is the caring and warmth that are not an act but a genuine reflection of the character and compassion of our hosts.||||Alassio and Liguria have done an excellent job of responsibly combating the current health crisis. We feel very safe here.We will not hesitate to return, as we have done twice a year for...
