Even though through expedia we could see that the hotel offers a free parking, once we arrived there we have been informed that there was no available parking and that we have to park either at a private parking with a cost of 24€ for 24hr or park anywhere in the street outside hotel for 9€ for 24hr and the receptionist specifically said “ just pay at any pay&display machine...” likely they allowed us to park temporary on a spot outside hotel in order to check in.. after check-in we got the car to find a spot for parking.. after driving for 10 minutes around we finally found a parking space.. trying to pay at the machine we figured out that wasn’t actually 9€ but much more.. As at the machine the only available language was italian we thought that may be we are making a mistake so we decide to ask someone around.. nobody speaks english there btw.. after 10-15 minutes we finally find a traffic officer and she told us that the hotel has to provide us with the ticket that cost €9, no need of a display ticket from the machine. We went back to hotel to ask about this tickets.. and after complaining that they weisted our time he guy said “but you didn’t ask me for...
Read moreWe stayed at Hotel University for four nights and just couldn't have picked a better place for our trip to Bologna. The hotel's location is great - perfectly situated between the university quarter and the historic center. Everything in Bologna seemed to be a mere 10 minute walk maximum from it. Despite sharing a street with some busy restaurants and bar, the rooms were very quiet. The air conditioning was also great, especially with how hot Bologna is in the summer. The rooms were not the most luxurious but they were very clean and comfortable. The hotel's front desk concierge were just a delight to stay with. They were so warm and helpful with anything we needed. They really went above any beyond - from recommending restaurants, arranging transport for a day trip, and always greeting us with a smile. Just great, honest, and pleasant people. ||Bologna in general is a great city, seemingly untouched by the mass tourism you find in other parts of Italy, and Hotel University made our visit that much more enjoyable. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a good mid range hotel in a...
Read moreDecent hotel in the centre of Bologna.||Positives first. It’s very central, really close to the main historical centre, easily a sub 10 minute walk to Piazza Maggiore and the Twin Towers. Set in the middle of the University area it’s surrounded by good bars and the excellent Osteria dell’Orsa, and le Stanze, plus very close to Trattoria Anna Maria. ||||The breakfast was good, selection of continental style breakfast, cereal, pastries, yoghurt, fruit, bread, cold meats, cheese, boiled eggs, tomato, juices and a coffee machine, nothing hot or cooked as I expected. ||||Room was fine, bed was good, comfortable and good sheets, always cleaned, turned over every day. Bathroom clean, and ok towels, BUT the shower was tiny. I always appreciate I’m a big guy, 6 ft tall. 17 stone, but the tiny cubicle in the corner is a joke, shower was ok and powerful just tiny. I’m sure a smaller person would also struggle.||||Price I paid was ok, €80 ish a night with brekkie is good, a nice late 11am checkout too.||||Perfectly fine no frills accommodation.||||Air conditioning was...
