We loved Va Mo Là so much that we went there two nights in a row and didn't even want to try anywhere else!
The atmosphere is a highlight. The entire interior is so cozy and lovely that you immediately feel welcome and could spend hours there. It's a very social place, and we even became friends with people at a neighboring table. The staff is also incredible—they are incredibly helpful and very attentive. On a very busy Saturday, we arrived 30 minutes before our reservation, and they still made sure to find us a great table.
And the food... it's out of this world! The lasagne, both the classic bolognese and the vegetarian one, were simply the best we have ever had. My husband was so impressed with the Balanzone Ricotta Mortadella that he ordered it twice! The wine they recommended was also perfect and paired beautifully with our meal.
Va Mo Là is a must-visit in Bologna. The amazing food, cozy atmosphere, and fantastic service made it the best dining experience of our trip. We are already looking forward to...
Read moreUnfortunately I must say I was disappointed, as the place is beautiful, romantic and seemed promising. I sat with my boyfriend, I'm vegan/vegetarian and he's a classic Italian. The prices are not cheap but we decided to enjoy the night. For starters we took the 5 vegan spreads (10€), which was tasty but nothing special that you can't find at the local supermarket. For the main dish I took the vegan zucchini bomb (12€) which was edible but felt like a mistake, the plate included 3 out of the 5 spreads from the starter which made me feel like they don't know what to feed me. It was a mushy mixture of flavours, definitely didn't feel Italian. He took the tartar (15€) and said it was good. We both drank red wine which was great (4/5€ a glass). The service was fantastic. In general, I'm happy those kind of places are offering also vegan options, I just wish they would stick to what they know to make well- simple Italian food, just without the...
Read moreDisappointing: based on the many positive reviews and the long lines, we decided to eat at Va Mo Là. Even though the staff is very friendly and the interior and atmosphere are nice, I cannot recommend it. Firstly, both the terrace and the rooms in the back are huge: this makes you feel like you're in a large canteen; you get served by different people the whole time.
But most importantly: the food was very mediocre: we ordered a lasagna Bolognese which tasted ok (nothing special) but was obviously microwaved because it was still cold inside. Then we ordered grilled vegetables with burrata: the vegetables were mushy (probably also microwaved) and the burrata was a plain ball of mozzarella, not liquid at al like proper burrata should be.
It's a mystery to me why this place is so popular, even among Italians, since you pay as much as you would in a much nicer restaurant. To me this place doesn't reserve...
