Absolutely wonderful - the tour guide owns this business and it shows that itās his passion and truely enjoys personally hosting every tour himself as he grew up in the area. He was incredibly entertaining and knowledgeable about sights and history in Bologna and the food the region is known for. It was a great mix of food with small breaks of walking around the city and hearing itās stories and history. A great thing about this tour is itās always 8 people or less so itās an intimate tour which makes it easy to ask questions about anything and everything.
It was outstanding that the guide was so knowledgeable and friendly - and takes you to truely great Family run restaurants and shops.
We did the morning tour (10am-2pm) which started out food wise with espresso and cappuccino with pastries, followed by a spread of all the meats you could imagineā¦mortadella, prosciutto, culatello, parmigiano reggiano, and salami (and wine), a balsamic vinegar tasting, watching pasta making, 3 popular types of pasta (with more wine), a warm cheese and bread snack that was amazing, and of course gelato (the really amazing gelato thatās stored in metal containers and made in house instead of those gross tourist trap mounds of artificially colored and flavored gelato). Would hands down recommend to everyone...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWow wow wow!! This is one of the BEST tours we have ever taken (Bologna Food Tour from a Local Perspective)! Our guide, Ricardo, was extremely knowledgeable not only about food within Bologna, but also shared a ton of information on the history of the city as we walked from place to place. He is also hilarious and could consider stand-up comedy as a side gig.
Each stop on this tour had a section reserved for our group, which was an intimate group of 8 people, and we had a great time chatting and getting to know everyone. It truly felt like a skip the line experience every place we went into. The pace of the whole day felt perfect, nothing seemed rushed or dragged on for too long. The whole group was engaged and laughing the whole day, thanks to Ricardo!
Now...for the food. MY GOD. This tour allows you to understand why Bologna has the reputation for food that it does. Everything was authentic, cooked perfectly, and full of flavour. Plus, the wine was plentiful! We left feeling extremely satisfied by the end of the day and also didn't feel overly full, which was super appreciated.
I would HIGHLY recommend booking...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLoved loved loved this tour! I am a foodie and knew that we HAD to do a food tour in Bologna. The only issue was (if you can call it an issue!) is that there are so many different food tour options out there and I did not want to choose a 'wrong' one. So I spent hours and hours (literally!) researching and comparing different tour companies, had a Pros an Cons things going for each one and after much deliberation I chose this one and so glad I did. It was some of the most fun we've had on the trip! Mattia is absolutely wonderful - he took us to great places and made the whole experience so much fun. I love that the groups are very small - we only had 7 people on the tour and we loved chatting up with everybody. There was so much food - we started with little breakfast, then had all kinds of delish meats at an osteria and then had a full lunch (three different types of pasta!) and a gelato. I cannot say enough great things about Mattia and this company and if you are looking for a tour in Bologna don't spend hours doing research - just...
