Hotel review
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Hotel Le Terrazze. The namesake terrace has a gorgeous view of Amalfi. The hotel is located about 15 minutes from the Amalfi city center which puts you very close to the city without being in the chaos of Amalfi proper. There are so many wonderful things to say about this hotel!
Before we even arrived, they sent an email with helpful to know information. They offered to help arrange transportation to the hotel (from Sorrento for example) if needed. Due to train strikes in Naples, we decided to drive to the hotel, and they offer free parking if you book directly with them. You have to leave the car keys at the reception in case they need to shuffle cars around to make space. I don’t recommend long vehicles as it may be hard to maneuver. We were very lucky this hotel has free parking as not many places offer it, if they have parking at all.
From the parking lot, you can take the elevator or stairs down to the reception and main floor. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful. Past the reception is the breakfast room and the terrace with an indoor and outdoor lounging area. All the decor is beautifully crafted.
The breakfast is phenomenal. They do it a-la carte style - they bring you a sheet with all the options, you write how of each item you’d like, and they bring it out to you. My favorites were the Nutella pancake and caprese salad. The cappuccino is also very delicious. The freshly squeezed orange juice was absolutely amazing and a must have. The breakfast room also has a gorgeous view of Amalfi.
The hotel does not have a full service restaurant for dinner, but they offer light bites and a variety of drinks in the evenings until 10pm. After some big lunches in town, this was nice to have when we didn’t want to have another big meal for dinner. If you’re looking for a dinner recommendation, we recommend a short walk from the hotel to Baglio Amalfi Italian Risto Cucina where we had the BEST dinner on the Amalfi coast.
Our room was lovely - clean, comfortable, and quiet. The bed and pillows were so comfortable. The art above the bed was hand painted tiles. We had our own little terrace outside our room with a view of Amalfi. Although the hotel was quiet, they still provided ear plugs and eye masks for sensitive guests. We did not need them at all. The A/C in the room worked great as it was still warm out during our stay in September.
The beach near this hotel was a treasure. The beaches in Amalfi and Positano are absolute chaos and don’t look super clean. Having this small beach that you could only access if you’re staying near the hotel or by boat was amazing. It was clean and lovely. It does lose the sun completely around 2PM though, so plan accordingly. All the beaches, including this one, are rocky, so I recommend water shoes if you don’t like stepping on rocks underwater. You can rent a sunbed and/or umbrella for €10 each (this is not affiliated with the hotel) which is a reasonable price compared to the beach clubs. Two or three restaurants on the beach. You can also take a water taxi to Amalfi from the beach which the hotel can schedule for you.
We absolutely loved our stay at Le Terrazze. If all hotels were like this, it would be perfect. Thank you to Elisabetta and the other staff for taking such...
Read moreHORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE— Stay away! This is not a hotel. Owner of Le Terrazze (Marcello) has so many rules you feel like you are being watched and scolded by your father! This hotel does not have room service or any restaurants on site. |We were staying here for 4 nights, end of September, we are 55+ and invited our friends over for a drink( they were staying down in Amalfi). |We had a wonderful day spent touring Pocitano with our friends , end of day we invited our friends for a drink and some munchies we bought during the day in our room ( as there are no restaurants on site , you need to buy when you are out visiting local towns) . |When we arrived in parking lot from our excursions, a young lady approached us and our guests in parking lot asking who they were and what we were doing there . We advised her we are staying at this hotel and our friends will be joining us for a drink and some snacks for an hour. We assumed this was for registering their car in parking lot or perhaps even paying for parking which we would have no problem doing. We went inside, lady quickly went to get “her manager” Marcello, who came out right away yelling at us advising — we are not allowed to bring people to our room or to the hotel “ it’s the law in Italy” . We had paid for an oceanview room with a balcony. View was beautiful and on the balcony there was 4 chairs and ample space to accommodate up to 6 people. Marcello advised we were not allowed to eat or drink in room but allowed an “ exception” for us to bring our friends to the terrace area . We wanted to go show our friends our room but was told we were not allowed and we were followed to make sure we didn’t break the rules. Once we got to terrace and took out our snacks and drinks Marcello once again came out, this time yelling that we could only buy his booze and food and not eat or drink own food or drinks . Not sure what food he was referring to as the night before we were told there was no food or room service available — we would need to walk to nearest town ( which was approx 30 min walk or taxi there) He was very rude, and verbally abusive to my wife, embarrassing us in-front of our guests and other guests in the hotel. We noticed the other guests rolling their eyes and leaving the terrace as Marcellos voice was getting louder and offensive. We at that point decided to get our money back for the remaining 3 nights. |The is not a hotel — there are no restaurants, no room service, nowhere to buy anything if in need , it’s on a peninsula like corner , the shuttle is not a shuttle — it’s their taxi that you have to pay for to get to closest town ( which is Amalfi , 10 min drive, 15 euros each way ) . It feels like you are living in someone’s home and being watched every move you make . Beautiful views from balcony but not worth the hassle...
Read moreThis is a quite a gem. Hotel Le Terrazze is run by a wonderful family—Marcello, Emilia and their daughters. They honestly deserve a higher rating than “3-stars” — they all went above and beyond. Coordinating with them prior to the trip was so easy — Stefania and Monica were so responsive to all questions and they were quick to book any car service / excursion we asked for.
From check in— Monica was great — super thorough and made sure we had all the information we needed. She was so proactive — we’d find ourselves heading out for the day and she would make sure we had everything we needed (I.e bus tickets, time tables, directions etc)
The room was great. Clean and spacious and the sea view was absolutely amazing. AC was great too. Terrace was great to spend time in as well— they have a bistro table with two chairs along with two lounge chairs. Housekeeping left two bottles of water each night.
The terrace in the common area was a great place to take in the beautiful Amalfi Coast. Starting at 4:30pm you can get drinks and snacks there. The decor all around the hotel was wonderful— mix of Amalfi Coast + things local to Conca dei Marini.
The location is phenomenal. The view is amazing (people driving down the highway would stop to take pictures from the entrance). There’s a beach down the steps (hotel le terrazze gives you a heads up when you book it is 230 steps down but it’s really not so bad). You have 3 different restaurant options (Ippocampo has amazing pizzas), can get beach loungers and umbrellas rentals and water taxis to amalfi (10€ per person) and positano (40€ per person) from there. Conca is such a great little town.
If you’re coming peak season July/August, I’d warn you it’s tough getting around purely by bus outside of Conca. Luckily there’s a ton of hidden gems around the town and Hotel Le Terrazze does a great job in highlighting some of them.
You can feel the blood, sweat, and tears Marcello, family and staff painstakingly put into making sure their guests feel welcome and have a great stay.
It was truly memorable — we hope to come back soon and hope if you’re reading this you’re convinced to book a...
