Horrible.. our worst meal of the trip.. foodies beware.. a tourist trap.. we should have known better having to pay 80€ for a table of 2, and you have to cancel 48 hours ahead of time.. but we figured it was finer dining and we wanted to have 1 nice meal.. well we struck out.. the wine was gross, the raviolis also gross.. the dough was hard & the filling was gritty.. I ate 1 and was done with it.. the only good part was the clam sauce it was served in which i used the bread (which also not good) to soak it up.. my friend had the gnocchi which was better than mine but also not good.. they were harder/gritty.. not the fluffy clouds you would expect while dining in Italy.. I really wanted tiramisu so i figured.. hey they can't mess that up too, and we wanted to make sure we reached out minimum of 75€ a person(also like is that a joke.. should have also known better with that).. I was wrong.. literally just tasted like I was taking a shot of rum and brandy / whatever alcohol they used.. by the time we got there at 7:30 for our reservation forget even enjoying the view because it was just pitch black outside... we were really trying to find good local, authentic gems on this trip.. and this was NOT it.. money NOT well spend & there's nothing worse than spending money on food you hated.. i have NO idea why this was rated so well..

Update: replying to the chefs response.. 1. Point proven with that response 2. Sir i truly wish I did not dine with you but I unfortunately did on September 19th, so you might want to recheck the reservation list. This review was intended for you, not “your competitor” 3. Following up with your “drink less in the evening” did you miss the part where we didn’t even finish the wine...

This is a very small restaurant located quite far away from the main harbour. Staff were friendly and food was okay, but definitely overpriced. My partner and I were very keen to visit this restaurant after reading some amazing reviews, however, we were disappointed when we arrived. The restaurant’s website claims it to be the most romantic restaurant in Italy and 6th most romantic in the world, however this is a bit of a stretch. The restaurant is very small, accommodating only around 6 tables in total, 5 of which had a sea view. Since we visited for dinner, we couldn’t appreciate the views very much as it was dark outside, but I imagine it to be lovely during the day. The food was pretty good, my partner ordered the lasagne and I had the shrimps (I thought I was ordering prawns as stated on the menu, but I was presented with shrimps). The lasagne was very good, but I was far from delighted with my seafood as it wasn’t as was described on the menu and was simply overpriced. Albeit, I thoroughly enjoyed the tiramisu, and ended up getting another! The website asks for a €40pp deposit when making a reservation, which can be reached rather comfortably, however this restaurant is not ‘high end’ enough to demand such high deposits. There are plenty of other restaurants in Amalfi serving cheaper food, in more convenient locations with no deposit requirement. Overall, I didn’t have a terrible experience, but it did not live up to the standards I was expecting after reading so many raving reviews about it. It essentially felt like I was sat in someone’s living room that had been rearranged to look like a restaurant with average food and cheap table/chairs etc, making this experience far from ‘the most...

We came to Baglio as part of our honeymoon trip to Amalfi, and I have to say that I have never been to a restaurant that treats you like family. My (new) husband and I had the most beautiful evening dining with this lovely husband and wife team (the whole restaurant is family owned for several generations). The food is literally the best we've had on our two week trip (including having dined at a Michelin star restaurant). The views are beyond breathtaking. The people who own this place are just so sweet and generous. From the waiter/owner/husband who greeted us warmly and took extremely good care of us from the very beginning, to the chef/owner/wife who came out and shook our hands and showed us her family photo album from when the restaurant opened in 1971...everything about this place is like a dream dining experience. The people are incredibly warm and welcoming and they will definitely make sure you enjoy your evening with them! They clearly put their heart into their work and it shows! As an added bonus...If you care about knowing where your food comes from, the eggs used to make my husband's carbonara came from the chef/owner's backyard chicken, the tomatoes in my pasta were from her garden. The lemons in the delectable lemoncello are from a family farm. From the bruschetta to the last bite of dessert, we were absolutely in love, and we really enjoyed supporting someone who takes this kind of farm-to-table dining to heart! Do yourself a favor and eat here! We plan to spend as much time as possible out of our 4 day Amalfi stay on the Baglio balcony. Thank you again, Baglio, for the unforgettable evening! 🍷🍝😘

Overall - Maximum recommendation We were staying next door at the Borgo Santandrea and wanted another food option so we went over here on foot. Luckily they had a table open and we were able to spend our last night in Italy here. Restaurant is owned by a husband and wife (she’s the chef). Serena does all of the cooking and it’s obvious that she cares and puts her passion into the food. Location - would be a worthwhile drive for most and if you are staying next door then this is a must. Also I found it funny that we had a sunset booked another day at another place but the timing worked out that we got to watch the full moon rise here, which was even better. Ambiance - this isn’t some Michelin star fancy place where they come by and measure the distance between the knife and spoon on your plate before you get there. It’s real. Wine - the wine list here is great. Albino, the owner, definitely knows his stuff on the wine front. Food - amazing. We also ate at lo scoglio (which I would also recommend) and had one of the same dishes (lobster pasta) at both locations and my wife and I agreed, Baglio was better. In fairness to Scoglio we didn’t try their signature zucchini pasta so can’t speak to that. Dessert - we had the tiramisu, which we did find to the tiramisu 2.0 that we were told it would be. Experience - fantastic. Much like Dakota Fanning when she was here filming, I would also eat here every day if we had stopped here first. We talked to Albino and Serena a bit. They shared their story, and it made for a special experience for us. Love this place. You should go.
