Food was boring, bland, and without inspiration - not Michelin star worthy. Strange choice for the tasting menu; dessert was the only okay course. Service was rushed, and there were no breaks between courses. Twice the food was served even when one person was not at the table. Service was unattentive, did not even recognize that you could hear the music from downstairs plus the music from the actual restaurant. The service was not at par with a one star. The waiters were not attentive nor where they knowledgable. We had to call several times before they answered. We ordered a bottle of wine. It was good, but the waiter could not describe notes and flavors. There was no sommelier. The food was below par too. For example, the pasta was overcooked and with no character—very plane. Second night staying at Monastero Santa Rosa and came to Il Refettorio. Everything was fantastic. Very attentive staff (unlike the one star review below), amazing locale white wine, breath taking view, and weather was perfection. Favorite items: we ended up ordering 2 of the tagliolini because the first dish was just too good. The scallop was also great if you like foie gras pâté. Everything was perfect, even the hotel.
