I recently stayed at the YellowSquare Milan branch and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The hostel was nice and clean, creating a comfortable atmosphere for guests. Its location was decent, offering easy access to key spots in the city.
However, there were a couple of areas where the hostel could improve. First, it lacked organized activities for guests to engage in (comparing to Rome branch). This could be an excellent way to foster a sense of community among travelers. Additionally, the staff, while not unfriendly, could be a bit more welcoming, especially considering the communal nature of a hostel.
On a positive note, I want to extend a special thanks to Joe at the Milan branch. He was exceptionally helpful and friendly during my stay, which made a significant difference in my overall experience. It's staff members like Joe who can truly enhance a guest's stay.
Comparing my experience to a previous stay at the Rome branch, I must say that the Rome location was unbeatable in terms of enjoyment and overall experience. The Rome branch seemed to have a more vibrant atmosphere and a wider range of activities, which contributed to a memorable stay.
In conclusion, YellowSquare Milan offers a nice and clean accommodation option in a decent location. With a bit of enhancement in guest activities and a warmer staff demeanor, it could elevate its status to match the memorable experience offered at the Rome branch.
Overall, I recommend YellowSquare with all its branches and I would...
Read moreI arrived before checking, hoping the drop my luggage off and come back later. But the woman on reception double checked and my bed was ready! She kindly escorted me to my room and offered to help carry my bag as we had a few stairs to climb. The room itself was great - lockers matching each bed that I could easily fit my two pieces of hand luggage and an en-suite for the 8 beds. Plug and light on the bed which makes such a difference. I went on the Gelatour on my first night - a must do. It’s a great way to get your bearings, meet new people and more importantly eat gelato. The staff gave me a voucher for a free drink during happy hour and you can refill your water at reception for free - again, it makes such a difference. There are so many spaces for people to hang out and chat that the dorm itself was silent. The courtyard is beautiful and I wish I made the most of it, but after stomping around Milan all day I just wanted to go to sleep. The location is great, it’s just off the M3, maybe a 10 minute walk maximum if you’re tired and you have heavy bags? But you could also easily walk into Milan instead, which I did the second day. The staff are amazing though, they are so friendly and helpful. Once I’d checked out, they showed me where I could store my bags for the day for 1€ - you probably could fit a decent sized hold luggage in the locker so more than enough space for my two bags. I...
Read moreThis has been, by far, the best hostel I have stayed in. It is huge, and has so many fantastic facilities including a large communal kitchen and fridge, bar, hair salon, club and so much more. Make sure to explore whilst you are there. It's within a 5/6 minute walk to the closest Metro station and has an express supermarket around the corner, as well as lots of restaurants, and an open-air swimming pool. I stayed in a 4-bed all-female room and it was in fabulous condition. Each person has a locker (bring a padlock or rent one from reception), and a bed with an electronic safe for valuables. Each bed also comes with linen, an EU plug socket and personal light. It was extremely clean and tidy, and plenty of space for 4 people. There was also a desk and chair to work at should you want it. The bathroom was spacious enough for 1 person, with a standing shower, toilet, sink and mirror, and was once again in fabulous clean condition (and one of the better shared en-suites I've been in). It was such a pleasant experience, and I will definitely be back soon. I struggled to come up with anything I didn't like, so my one addition would be larger shared bathrooms (perhaps on each floor) so that you didn't have to wait (or go down to the basement toilets) if someone was in the bathroom. But honestly, this wasn't a problem I...
