Hotel Ristorante la Bussola — Hotel in Orta San Giulio

I highly recommend booking la Bussola if you plan on staying in Lake Orta. This is my second year in a row staying here and it keeps getting better. First and foremost, all of the staff are incredibly hospitable, warm and caring. They take such pride in providing excellent customer service. They give great recommendations for places to eat and shop as well. The breakfast is included in the price and is one of my favorite parts of staying here! Be sure to try the donuts at breakfast. The parking situation is another great factor to consider. You can't drive down in the piazza unless you have a permit and luckily la Bussola offers free parking on-site. I also needed laundry service during my stay and the hotel took care of everything. All I had to do was drop my clothes off at reception and they were washed, air dried, folded and delivered to my room the very next day! This hotel is also incredibly clean and comfortable. The beds and pillows are so comfortable. The air conditioning is another reason to book. This is a necessity for me being 6 months pregnant and visiting Orta in the middle of summer. Other amenities we enjoyed are playing ping pong, lounging by the pool, and being close to the lake - be sure to ask reception the quickest way to access the lake. Aside from that, please note that it's about a 10 minute or less walk from the hotel to the piazza and there's alot of stairs involved. Also, if you arrive in Orta before check in time, just let reception know. They were able to hold our bags for us and then they delivered it to our room once our room was ready. They also let us park for free which is another great perk. I cant say enough great things about my recent stay with this stunning hotel. Vacanze di Pasqua 2011. Mi sono rifugiata qui durante una fuga da casa improvvisa; dopo una notte all'aperto trascorsa a dormire su degli scalini, mi sono presentata alla reception, ho fornito i miei dati e mi è stata subito assegnata una stanza. Essendo tuttavia arrivata al momento, senza prenotazione, sono stata sistemata in una camera senza vista sul lago e sull'esterno, ma ugualmente molto ampia, arredata finemente in stile classico, ma ben curato, colore chiaro sul beige, ricordo il notevole spazio per sistemare anche tutti i miei accessori, come il laptop, tablet, etc. Bagno anch'esso ampio, chiaro, pulito al top, con un tocco di ricercatezza lussuosa e profumato. Peccato non avere spazio esterno, neanche un balconcino, ma sono stata molto bene e mi sono riposata completamente, grazie all'ambiente tranquillo, silenzioso, ma vivace nella hall e in area piscina, che purtroppo non ho utilizzato, anche se mi era stato offerto un costume della mia taglia, ma non avevo ancora mai preso neanche un giorno di sole, ero bianca tipo cadaverica e mi imbarazzavo, allora ho declinato gentilmente. Colazione ottima, soltanto che non smettevo di dormire e mi sono accorta poi che le signore addette alla pulizia stavano attendendo per poter riassettare la camera ahaha ma avevo lasciato tutto in ordine, ottimamente disposto come era stato previsto, a parte le lenzuola sul letto, che ricordo erano molto fresche, piacevolissime data la temperatura già elevata di quei giorni e me le sono goduta fino all'ultimo =)

Gentilissima la signora responsabile (titolare?), si è assicurata avessi trascorso bene la mia "vacanza" fino al check out. Sono rimasta piacevolmente sorpresa dalla spesa totale, che mi aspettavo fosse molto più alta, invece si è rivelata essere accessibilissima, anche in periodo di Pasqua e presenza di turismo a Orta.

Due cose soltanto non mi hanno entusiasmata: assenza di ristorante nell'hotel per cenare la sera e mancanza di organizzazione per feste o eventi all'interno del complesso, infatti la sera la hall era solitaria, in quanto tutti uscivano per il borgo. Anch'io quindi sono andata in giro e una sera sono rientrata ben oltre l'ora stabilita dal regolamento, ho dovuto suonare e attendere un momento, ma sono stata accettata ugualmente, senza nessuna polemica, per tornare in stanza a riposare dopo una serata alcolica bella tosta =D

Tra i clienti ospitati in quei giorni non c'era nessuno con spirito estroverso e voglia di socializzare; erano in genere famiglie, coppie o in ogni caso persone che volevano stare per conto proprio, quasi infastidite dal mio (primo ed unico) tentativo di conversare, ricevendo infatti una risposta concisa e rapido saluto di circostanza, di congedo. Stessa attitudine nei locali serali/notturni del borgo, ove ogni gruppo manteneva la totale riservatezza, mangiando e bevendo tra i relativi conoscenti riuniti, senza ammettere "intrusi".

Durante il soggiorno, ho assistito all'interpretazione di una ricostruzione animata e ambientata in epoca medievale, con la partecipazione di falconieri, davvero in gamba, che mi hanno permesso di ammirare i maestosi rapaci che governavano con totale sicurezza e precisione. Purtroppo, essendo la piazza estremamente affollata, ho dovuto osservare lo spettacolo a distanza un po' eccessiva, ma mi sono aiutata con lo zoom potente della handycam (zoom 50x), con la quale ho potuto registrare ammirevoli riprese che conservo tuttora, con un filo di nostalgia.

Tirando le somme, hotel maestoso, in posizione dominante, forse la migliore del luogo, con dimensioni davvero notevoli e aspetto interno ed esterno elegante, ricercato anche nei dettagli, ma dotato di comodità estremamente fruibile e tutto ciò che contribuisce a farmi conservare, a distanza di anni, un ricordo positivo e originale,...
