You couldn’t pay me to stay here again.
The hotel made us feel like we were sleeping in a dirty hospital. Words can’t truly describe the smell. Urine and feces masked by the scent of nauseatingly strong incense. The neighborhood is bad with camp of homeless sleeping outside of the gates, piles of feces, and urine stained corners to greet you.
The hotel makes you pay in full upon check in which should have been our first red flag. As soon as we saw the room, we tried to check out, but the people at the front desk left and there was no one to speak with (about 15:30). I sent them a message and received a response that the money for the remaining nights would be refunded, but I would need to wait for the staff to arrive at 8am for their breakfast. We stayed the night hoping that we could make the best of it, but the morning couldn’t come soon enough. It’s a few days after we left and my nose still burns from the smell. We spoke with the staff in the morning and were told that the owner will not refund the money.
It was so bad that I just decided to leave and accept the loss of money. It felt unhealthy and unsafe to stay here. We are now happily booked at another hotel, and what a difference.
Do yourself a favor and do not stay here. There are so many...
Read moreHotel Ballarò is very clean, fairly priced, and well located. It’s clearly advertised as a budget hotel so it’s unfair to expect certain services or amenities typical of a standard hotel. The staff are not always present but they are available through WhatsApp and respond quickly and helpfully. I think they did a great job with the decor, which is streamlined and minimalistic. The terra-cotta floors combined with the white walls, sheets, tall ceilings with transparent tan curtains, and colorful Ballarò artwork are an attractive combination. The bathrooms are very clean with piping hot water and excellent water pressure and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The only downside to the room is that the bed is a bit too stiff but I slept very well thanks to the perfect temperature and stillness. Hotel Ballarò is just a one-minute walk from the biggest, most bustling market in Palermo and a four-minute walk from the station - in a really busy area - but because of exactly where it is situation plus the fact that it’s in the back of an ancient palazzo, street noise is minimal to non-existent. Breakfast consists of typical Sicilian pastries and very good coffee. I had...
Read moreBallaro Hotel advertises itself as a hotel in the center of Palermo. First off its not a hotel, it's a B&B with 1 shared bathroom between ten room. Second of all their advertisement states check in is until.11pm.They are out of here by 7 and your on your own. They also advertise they shuttle from the airport, they do not. They don't shuttle at all, not even from the train station in central Palermo. When you arrive at the hotel after having to take the train from airport and walk to hotel you now have to watch a video on your phone to get the code to allow yourself in because no one is there to open the front doors.. This place is a dump! Stay as far away from this place as you can. Parking is $30.00 a night and not near the hotel for those that drive. No elevator and the hallway with b&b rooms are on the second floor with long palacious stairways. Dragging 4 suitcases up those stairs is taxing. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else. The pictures they present in their ad are deceiving. This is something right out ot the "Munsters"and the...
