Trattoria Calessino — Restaurant in Palermo

Hands down my favourite place in Palermo. In my two weeks here, I came back probably 6 or 7 times. I love the sun so there was always a place for me in the sun to sit, but much more shaded area for the more reasonable among us that try to avoid the sun. They're grilling fresh fish and meat on a huge outdoor BBQ right in front of you. And plenty of delicious pasta options with or without fish. Also for vegetarians or pescatarians...I had grilled zucchini pasta on my last day and it was divine. On top of all that, everyone that works there is a gem. So friendly, always greeting you with attention and recognition. And as if that all wasn't enough, they somehow managed to make my favourite Aperol Spritz that I had anywhere in all of Palermo. Including the ones made myself. Bravo! Can't wait to come back...

I went because of the 4.9 review score....but most dishes were not available. No price list. He got me the wrong drink. The vegetables in my dish were completely overcooked. It swam in the vegetable cooking liquid. It was about the worst pasta dish I had in my life. The pasta itself was nicely al dente and maybe I should have had a pasta bianco with oil and cheese....On the upside, he charged me the local rate. Since there were quite a bit of locals, it may just be that this is local cuisine. But my expectations were for another type of simple (and good) pasta. We’ve been to Trattoria Calessino twice now, and both times were fantastic! We had the grilled seafood on each visit, and it was absolutely delicious. There’s a great variety of dishes, and everything we tried was super fresh and flavorful.

Marco, our waiter, really stood out. He was friendly, helpful, and always made sure we had everything we needed. His service definitely made our meals even better!

The drink selection is also great, and the prices are unbeatable for the quality of food you get. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend Trattoria Calessino if you're looking for good food, great service, and...
