Relais Merulana Guest House — Hotel in Rome

The room was booked through booking.

4 nights, 2 people. The hotel is in a good location. The metro is quite close, about 5 minutes walk. 15 minutes to Termini station. There are a lot of shops and restaurants in the area. 20 minutes walk to the coliseum. The entrance to the hotel is poorly visible, in my opinion it should be better marked.

The contact with the staff is very good, they quickly answer questions asked through booking.

The rooms are located on the 1st floor, there is no working elevator. The rooms are spacious, well-equipped. On site we will find an electric kettle, a coffee capsule machine, hygiene cosmetics, wifi, TV, mineral water, fridge, hairdryer as well as bed linen and towels. Unfortunately, the bed linen and some of the towels were dirty. A big plus for the clean bathroom and spacious shower (however, there was no holder for the shower head). The rooms are very well soundproofed from the outside. Unfortunately, sounds inside, coming from the corridor and other rooms could be heard as if there were no walls. I booked this room via booking, there I had 2 options: With usual WiFi With extra fast WiFi that cost me ~100 additionally euro So as I had businesses trip I booked second option and paid extra money. Also before arriving I send a message that a good WiFi is a must for me. Of course I received confirmation that they have great WiFi. But guess what, WiFi was so bad I even can’t conduct zoom call ( without video and with out sharing any presentation). Speedtest shows 8.25 it’s not fast WiFi it’s event not normal WiFi at all. I was complaining, telling that I paid extra money but didn’t receive this extra service, showed evidence of my booking page with extra service. No sense they even don’t know how to test WiFi, no help, no money returned… nothing. It was a big mistake to chose this hotel. Also door ring was screaming late in night, no culture at all. The location of the hotel is perfect. It’s around a 5-10 minute walk to the colosseum which is perfect. The location is fabulous and we walked everywhere but for people that need it there are bus, taxi and metro services all around. The room was on the smaller side but is perfect for a couple with one suitcase so it suited us well. The bed was really comfy and the air conditioning worked well which is exactly what we needed in the height of summer. Everything in the room and bathroom was very well cleaned and the room was made up every day and towels changed every few days. The room included free water and fizzy drinks as well as biscuit snacks and a coffee machine which was a really good touch. Fabio and Francessca were lovely hosts and made us feel very welcome. If I returned back to Rome I would 100% stay here again and I would recommend...
