081 Cafè — Restaurant in Rome

I was excited to try this café after seeing good reviews while walking by. However, my experience was disappointing. When I arrived, a man was standing in front of the entrance facing outside. I politely asked if he was waiting in line, and he said yes. So, I stood behind him, expecting to enter when it was my turn.

While waiting, I noticed something strange—he kept greeting people who seemed to be locals and letting them inside ahead of me. Meanwhile, I was still standing in the same spot. When I asked him again, he just kept repeating, "This is the line." But what kind of line was this if others were being welcomed in while I was ignored? It was frustrating and made me feel unwelcome, so I left without bothering any further.

If this place has some sort of unwritten rule about who gets in, they should be transparent about it. Definitely not an experience I expected based on the positive...

Please avoid this coffee shop as it aims to ripoff foreign clients and their products are mediocre at best (cannot understand the good reviews for this place). I ordered a regular cappucino,a caffe latte and 2 croissants, all takeaway, and was charged 10 euro. The menu said takeway cappucino is 1.50 and caffe latte 2 euro, croisants 2 euro each these are the takeaway prices. When asked why we were chared like this the owner kept saying all products were 2.50 euro, eventhough the menu showed otherwise. As for the products, both the cappucino and caffe latte tasted the exact same(not great) and the croissants were mediocre, we had better at other coffee shops in the area. This place is utterly repulsive. The behavior of the staff was beyond appalling as they callously ignored and disrespected my veiled mother-in-law. Despite patiently waiting in line, when it was finally our turn to be served, they shamelessly bypassed us and attended to customers who arrived later. When we brought up our complaint, their response was nothing short of disgraceful. They callously laughed and made insensitive remarks like, "We have a Muslim working here, so what's the problem?" and "Hahahah, you should learn some patience." It is truly sickening. Rome boasts numerous other breathtaking establishments worth exploring, and I strongly recommend considering those instead. Spare yourself the torment and avoid this abhorrent cafe...
