Rome City Hostel — Hotel in Rome

Be advised! I am world traveler, had been to 210 Hostels mostly under Hostelworld UNTIL this hostel, Rome City Hostel overcharged me 45 USD more, it make me VERY upset. I wrote NEGATIVE review about this hostel on hostelworld but somehow Hostelworld removed my review, apparently its OKAY for Rome City Hostel to over charged me without repaying back. This happened because when I arrived at Rome City Hostel very early morning, and they charged me 90 USD instead 50 USD, I refused to give them my credit card but they took my credit card numbers from Hostelworld and went ahead and charged me without my permission AND HOSTELWORLD have no problem with it. I will make video about it with reenactment and WILL post on YOUTUBE later end of this year because I am still traveling. I still fight and fought hard to get my $45 USD back and will demand them to issue me apology letter, yes that include hostelworld and Rome City Hostel.

I called it stealing and I did not contact my bank because if I told them that someone stole my money and my credit card will be cut off and I will be stuck without cash. I can't do that. Its very frustrating.

Rome City Hostel is AN APARTMENT living condition, Its not a hostel! Only reception desk that make it look like a hostel. Oh by the way, a staff there was so angry that I use fans to keep myself cool because it was loud but another staff used it with no problem.

WIFI was very bad when there are few people up and using smartphone but it become good during early morning.

BEWARE they will double charge you if you booked few weeks in advance because they will change the price anytime and make you pay for it. Your credit card will be easily compromised to anyone who see your numbers. I know it because I was a hostel owner before. Hostelworld did not put effort to protect your credit card. There is term and condition about it saying I agreed to let hostelworld showing them my credit card, in plain view.

I will write on Tripadvisor about it after I finally arrive home and will photocopy ALL of proof, all emails corresponded between me and Rome City Hostel AND Hostelworld.. To show evidence of their wrongdoings.

After TripAdvisor, I will make sure Rome City Hostel is aware in Rome Tourism Agencies.

UNPROFESSIONAL Staff who double the room rate after booked. I booked Rome City Hostel via Hostelworld 2 months in advance. It was $40 for 4 nights after deposit was paid. When I arrived the hostel late at night. They doubled the price!!!!!!! I was so upset and refused to give them my debit card until they correct the price. KNOW WHAT? They went ahead and charged my card WITHOUT my permission. I was a hostel owner myself before, because hostelworld DO GAVE away everyone credit card number information!!! I emailed to Hostelworld about credit card issue and they said that I had agreed to their term of service and use that credit card will be shared with anyone insecurely!!!!! Rome City Hostel staff lied a lot, that is how they got away with it because hostelworld thinks I caused the problem. I had traveled to 220 Hostel, being a hostel manager, staff and even an owner. I can rate them the WORST OF THE WORST. Staff was angry when I use fan to keep me cool. This is NOT hostel, its APARTMENT where they live with other locals. Nothing feel like a hostel! I will make YOUTUBE about this hostel later because I just settled down after my 10 years of non-stop traveling. Anyway again, they will steal your money by using your credit card to charge your stay if you argue with them and you will not be able to get refund! AND its not first time because I read other reviews, look like its repeated offender. They DO NOT CARE about you but want your money! STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOSTEL!!! Sorry I wrote this review late because I was so busy traveling all over Europe and then back to USA. ANYONE of you have question about this hostel like any proof, I have receipts and bank statement to share with you as a proof. I wanted to leave my backpack there after check out but the storage is just outside in the hallway and its ITALY. I DID NOT FEEL SAFE leaving backpack there so I took all belongings with me and went to bus stop and wait there, wasted...

BED BUGS! We arrived really late at night and were tired of our day of travel. We saw one bedbug in my bed. We told the guy at reception he did not seem to care. He told told us "tomorrow desinfectio" wich obviusly he did not do. We inspect are bed and did not see anymore so we decided to sleep since we were tired.

We were stupid enought to decide to keep are reservation for the next days.... So we went to sleep late the next day and my friend saw one crawling on her shirt and was bitten at a couple places we check my bed and found 2 more. It was midnight but we decided to leave immediatly. Nobody was at reception so we just left.

We wrote to Booking for a refund for that night and the next because we did not sleep there. They told us that the hostel said no because they offered us to change room wich is a complete LIE. So we were in the street at night looking for a place to wash all our clothes and a new hostel....

Also the ambiance was really weird there. People seem like they were there for a long time and they were making us feel like we were in the way. They also ask us for an extra 10€ because we arrived after 23h wich was not written anywhere when...
