Museum of Contemporary Art MLAC - Sapienza — Attraction in Rome

I walked a long way in the rain during a transit strike to see this exhibit. As one reviewer said, once you get to the huge university complex, the way to the gallery is not really indicated. (only one sign somewhere near the complex entrance.) Finally get to it and take the little elevator up to the "last floor" only to find a locked door with no sign or other indications on it. Il nome completo del Museo è Museo Laboratorio di Arte Contemporanea ed è tutto un programma. Infatti laboratorio è per mettere in chiaro che il suo obiettivo non è solo quello di far conoscere l'arte contemporanea come ci si attende da un museo. Ma quello di studiare, promuovere, tutelare e valorizzare l'arte contemporanea. Quindi i destinatari finali sono non solo gli studiosi e gli specialisti, ma anche gli studenti, oltre che ovviamente gli artisti stessi ed il pubblico in genere. Fra l'altro il museo è aperto a tirocini culturali per gli studenti di storia dell'arte e di studi storico-artistici (attualmente ne è in corso uno che abbraccia il periodo febbraio - luglio).
