Kedul Lodge — Hotel in Salten-Schlern - Salto-Sciliar

The proprietor (Wolly and his family) work 7 days/week providing a traditional Tyrolean bfast, in a beautiful breakfast room, shuttle service to the Sasalong lift in the morning and pick up at the end of the day, a handy ski storage room, a boot room with boot heaters, and covered parking all in an extremely comfortable cozy lodge with an outstanding view of the Sassolungo peaks. Wolly provided tips on where to ski and where to walk when the weather was not suited for skiing. We stayed in the ground level suite which offered 2 modern bathrooms, a sitting area with a kitchen table and chairs, a small kitchenette and a large bedroom. There was ample room for 3 but we were a couple enjoying the ample space. The suite was clean (friendly conscientious staff), secure and afforded an extraordinary view of the Sassolungo peaks. There was plenty of heat, hot water and the lodge was so quiet even though it was full. St. Cristina is ideally situated to complete the Sella Ronda route, to drive to Cortina, ski to Selva and walk to Orteisi. Staying at the Kedul Lodge is ideal to walk down to the centre of St. Cristina, it is along the historical and interesting railway path and it felt like home away from home. Nothing is perfect so if I were to look hard, I prefer a more solid sleeping pillow and the kitchenette could be updated to match the standard of the bathrooms. This is a truly beautiful place to stay in Val Gardena. All the rooms faces the mountain and at any time, you can see how the cloud has changed and the color of the peak is absolutely stunning. Our room even had a sauna inside the bathroom which is great, and I think may be perfect in the winter after staying out in the cold for a day. Breakfast was of high quality- the cold cut, bread, yogurt… etc . It is close to Seceda ski lift ( for a hike in the summer) , as well as Ortisei- which has a lot of restaurants for dinner. The owners were super friendly. Be mindful that most rooms except 1 are on the 1st floor and you would have to carry your luggage up one flight- about 15 steps? We would highly recommend...

Solo ski trip. Kedul lodge is brilliant value. I had a great view from my balcony. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. As I spent the vast majority of my time out skiing, the lodge had everything I required. It's a short walk into the centre of town where there is nice restaurants, a couple of shops and plenty of ski hire. The walk back up the hill with your ski hire is a nice warm up for the week ahead :-). There's a free shuttle service too and from the saslong ski lift at certain times which is very welcome. The saslong ski lift takes you to ciampinoi, one of the main focal points in the val gardena valley, and the start of 2/8 of the "legendary" pistes in val gardena. I'm sure I will return to...
