This little hotel really gave us a pleasant surprise as the experience was not at all what we were expecting for being a 2 starts hotel! We came to Viareggio for a friend's wedding over the weekend. We left everything last minute and the city was almost fully booked in till we found this little two stars hotel at walking distance from Viareggio's train station. Close to a beautiful pink church, restaurants, stores, and about a 10 minutes walk from the beach and shopping. Great location in a quiet residential area which really made us feel like locals. The Hotel staff were very welcoming, they spoke spanish and extremely helpful. We booked a double room, it was very clean, spacious, had a french balcony with the view to the pink church , dark curtains to block the powerful Italian sun of July, fan, AC which is a must in summer specially in July which is about 35-40C, mini fridge, TV, desk, big comfortable bed, spacious bathroom Italian style, big shower, a videe, we had daily housekeeping who changed our linens and towels. Also we got a key we could use to access the hotel very late at night since we had a lot of festivities till late due to the wedding. Over all it was FANTASTIC! This hotel...
Read moreFrom the train station you go to the left until the street of San Francesco (after the second traffic light), then turn right along this street to street Galvani (here you will see the sign of the hotel from the left). It will take 10-15 minutes. If you walk a little further to San Francesco, there will be restaurant Adriano's (my recommendation). There are couple of cafes nearby, supermarket CONAD and other shops (specify location at the reception). The beach is 15-20 minutes along San Francesco street. There there is a small piece of free narrow sandy beach and nearby a lot of paid beaches. Shopping street with lots of restaurants also begin there. ||Single room, no refridge, although it is listed on the site, there is a LCD TV (only Italian channels, but you can watch movies from a USB drive). The room has two sockets and one is in the bathroom. Shower - a hole in the floor with a curtain, without partition for water. Bide, balcony. Wi-Fi is free, but often you can not connect (especially in the evening). ||Entire amount was blocked on the credit card for a couple of weeks before arrival. You can confirm this amount at the hotel...
Read morewe stayed here for 2nights to go to the viareggio carnevale (which was great). It is 1.3 km from the train station, an easy if uninteresting walk. The reception people were friendly and nice, gave good suggestions for restaurants etc., but the hotel is a bit overpriced for what it offers, and the price quoted at booking included breakfast, but there was no breakfast, probably because it was low season. The room was supposed to be a superior double, but was small without anything special. Clean with comfortable beds though, and a large bathroom, unfortunately a tub with no shower curtain so flooding the room is unavoidable when showering. The cafe on the corner has great pastries and cappuccino. The hotel accepts pets which is a plus for pet owners but a negative for us as the only other occupied room on our floor had a couple who left their dog in their room where it howled the entire time they were gone...five hours of fun. Good thing the bars closed at 1. I think you can do better for the money, but...
