First thing first. This place is beautiful. Its incredibly spacious and superbly laid out. It’s in a quiet part of town and there is a 7-11 next door. ||It’s brand new and high tech but I must admit I struggled a bit as |1. I didn’t get the email with the entry details so had to ring the help desk to get it |2. When we were able to check in (wish we’d asked for an earlier check in as we had to store our luggage at the station until after 3pm) I took a while to work out the self check in system... swipe down to take a photo of your passport! |3. The washing machine instructions are in Japanese (I downloaded a kanji app to work out what each cycle meant) and the machine itself is in the darkest part of the wet area |4. I washed my clothes with a tissue so made a mess on the floor and couldn’t find a broom to sweep up the mess and |5. There was no small clothes hanging rack to peg up our Sox and undies so had to drape them over the rods in the bathroom and near the entry/Genkan ... ||A few tiny additions would make this a perfect base from which you could comfortably stay for a while. The kitchen seems to have the basics (but no tea towel) and contains a decent fridge, there’s a supermarket near the station, and the bathroom is beautiful.||Highly recommended but hope that the property managers add a few extra items as...
Read moreWhen I first made a booking, this hotel-apartment offered a reasonable price for a 2-night stay for 4 persons.||It's located within Beppu station - a 3-minute walking distance. There is no proper shelter during a rainy day, but we found out a shortcut through a sheltered parking lot to avoid raining.||Please note that this is an unmanned accommodation, so please make sure that you get all necessary information, such as pin code etc. before areiving. If you manage to do a pre check-in procedure, it would be much easier to complete the whole check-in process. There was no keycard, but they will provide you with two pin codes - one to enter the front door and the other one for your room.||This place also doesn't have any elevator, so if you bring some big luggages and get a room on the second floor, please be ready to carry them all!||The room we booked came with 3 king beds, so enough to accommodate 6 persons. There was a small kitchen with a decent-sized fridge, a dining table with some benches, a super large smart TV (incl. easy access to Netflix, YouTube etc - but you need to login with your own account), a washing machine (but no drying function), and a very hi-tech bathroom where you can fill up the bath tub automatically and a ventilation to dry up...
Read moreI'll start with the positives - the room was comfortable, attractive, spacious, and in a great location. There are, however, some areas to improve. First, the space is quite dark as is the entryway when you are walking to the building at night. I had to use my phone flashlight to make sure I wouldn't trip. The room could use more lighting, especially in the sink area. I was provided with very little dishwashing liquid in spite of having an 18 day stay and only one roll of toilet paper. When I checked in, the toilet smelled of cigarette smoke. I messaged the property and did not hear back from them. The air filter in the bathroom had never been cleaned and there was a serious amout of dust behind the TV. It would also be helpful to have English instructions on how to use the TV, tub, and...
