Appi Rocky Inn — Hotel in Hachimantai

Enjoyed a delicious dinner here in Jan 2025 (winter), as the nearby hotel shuttle bus stops at “APPI HOUSE” opposite the road. 10/10 would recommend 👍

We had a hamburger steak set meal, which had the juiciest and most tender patty (juicy from the first cut). And fish and chips made with fantastic cod.

Normally they require reservations, but we spontaneously decided to walk in and the host graciously prepared a sumptuous dinner for the 4 of us.

We were hosted by the owner Ootaki-san who was extremely welcoming and kind, and talked to us in English about our experience and the restaurant history!

Please try to reserve in advance, because there will be even better meat options and the opportunity to grill it over a large fireplace 🔥

Awesome Stay for Big Groups!

Rocky Inn is perfect for large groups! We were blown away by the delicious, home-cooked breakfast that changed every morning. The dinners? Absolutely mouthwatering! The barbecue stove is such a great spot for friends to gather and share good food and laughs—just fabulous!

The whole experience was amazing. We might've gained a few pounds because every bite was too tasty to resist! The room isn’t huge, but it’s cozy enough to crash after a day of skiing. Plus, the onsen is just a quick drive away.

Writing a review not for the hotel but for the restaurant. I'm so grateful I walked by this hidden gem as it did not identify itself has a restaurant on the map! Defnitely check the bar/restaurant out for a unique japanese bbq experience.

The hosts were lovely and made the experience more than welcoming. Beer selection was incredible, above all the freshly wood smoked meats was 10/10. Never had anything quite like it anywhere else.
