We just got back from a sensational 5 days with Rob and Ayami at the White Rose. We really had an amazing Japanese ski experience that went well beyond the skiing itself, immersing ourselves in the local culture, some great food and plenty to drink as well!||||Firstly Appi Kogen is not your typical ski resort - over-run by loud Australians - it is much quieter and way less crowded. No queues despite amazing snow and wonderful terrain for both skiers and snowboarders alike. The staff and locals in the resort itself were really helpful and friendly making ski rentals etc really easy .Rob and Ayami welcomed us to their cozy hideaway which is a short two or tree minute shuttle away from the slopes in the morning - probably a five minute walk if you wanted to. A quick call to Rob at the end of the day and the van turned up like magic within a few minutes. Their hospitality was second to none with activities and cuisine blending east and west ranging from learning to prepare sensational Gyoza through to sessions at the bar with Shepherds pie, a traditional girls only session at the nearby hot springs, or sitting in front of the open wood fire after a long soak in one of their two amazing traditional Japanese baths.||||The rooms were clean and comfortable, with a homely touch and heated floors through out the lodge. A big drying room, laundry facilities and also fast wifi for staying connected if needs be. We even had a few great sessions in front of the TV during a blizzard thanks to a great selection of Netflix movies.||||A great place for couples and families - relaxing and cozy - with great hosts who went out of their way to make sure everything was just perfect during our say.||||We can't wait to book again for next year - and we'll take...
Read moreWe have just had a week with Rob and Ayami. We have done a lot of traveling in Japan, and it was one of the best experiences we have ever had.||The recently renovated rooms are very comfortable and warm. The friendly, family style atmosphere is so relaxing after a big day out and about and the food that was served up night after night impressed every time. From traditional English Cottage Pie to Japanese Nabe, it was just delicious and fantastic every time.||The deep onsen-style hot baths were a real highlight after a big day out on the slopes.||||Appi Kogen is NOT for the party animal and those who want to go out and drink in bars each night. It is a quiet area, but the skiing is absolute first class. ||White Rose Inn is so close to the ski fields (10mins walk or 3mins in the shuttle bus), and the mountain offers something for every experience level. ||||We are really looking forward to our next visit to Ayami and Rob and can't wait to get back to see them again next year. Cannot recommend White Rose Inn...
Read moreWe went to Appi kogen to snowboard/ski in the fantastic offpiste powder. Picked White Rose since it looked cosy and it truly was! We stayed for 4 nights. We are so happy we stayed here! The sweetest and very service minded couple run this place. Ayami is a very good cook and made us the best meal every night. The room was clean and the beds comfy. The whole house is heated through the floor so its warm, even so you get to borrow slippers. The bathroom is like a mini-onsen. They know a lot about the area and could provide us with very useful information. We're definitely going return to...
