HAKONE NICA — Hotel in Hakone

We’ve been to Hakone many times, and this was hands down our best stay so far. As soon as we got off the train, the hotel staff was already there waiting with a car—such a smooth welcome. The hotel is fairly new, super clean (I even checked the private onsen and shower because of a bad mold experience at another place—none here!).

The staff were all so friendly. One fun moment: the girl who brought us to our room let us take the elevator while she took the stairs with our luggage—and somehow, she was waiting right there when the doors opened! It totally made me laugh.

The room is more modern in style, which I didn’t expect to love (I usually prefer the traditional look), but it turned out to be really comfy and practical.

The private onsen was a highlight. You can open it up for a fresh-air soak or close it to keep bugs out, and the blinds give you full privacy. The water quality was amazing—they even had a certificate about it in the bathroom! I also had the best sleep among all my visits to Hakone.

Dinner with tea pairing (yes, tea served in wine glasses)was incredible, and breakfast had tons of options—we chose to eat in the room, but the restaurant’s also an option. Sipping champagne or tea on the balcony with the sound of the creek, birds singing, and Mt. Fuji in the distance… just magical.

Huge thanks to the hotel team for making our stay so special. Hope they keep up...
