I planned this trip with my boyfriend about a month or so ahead of time. We were quite excited, however this excitement quickly went away upon arriving at the hotel. After we parked in the small parking lot we were led up uneven small stairs that were made up of various stones. Did I mention it was down pouring rain? I was so happy I did not have an actual luggage otherwise I am sure I would have slipped and fallen. I actually wanted to touch the hand rail because of how horrible the stairs were but the wooden rails were completely covered in moss (which at that point was sopping wet). I do not know how people go up with so much luggage and the high amount of dangerous stairs.||||After the stairs we were led into a main room for paperwork. We chose a time to eat our dinner and were given keys. Going up the stairs I saw the border on the bottom of the wall was falling off. Once to our room we opened the door. My boyfriend (Japanese) and I both had similar reactions. The room had a smell to it and it reminded us of a love motel, which for $450, did not make us happy. ||||There were two beds nexts to each other squished next to the sink in the room. Neither of us could comfortably stand in front of the sink without touching the bed. The highlight of the room, and the reason we booked it was the attached tub that had a view. However, much to my dismay the window looking outside had not been cleaned and was covered in film which prevented me from having a clear view of the beautiful scenery outside. ||||In the same room as the tub was the shower, coming from the drain was a sewer type smell which led me to have to spray my perfume while I was using the room. In addition to this I felt that the room had not been cleaned properly. Just looking at the tissue box it was covered in spots and dust. ||||The only positive at this "resort" was the dinner. However, $450 was not work the total price for one night. I hope my boyfriend and I can return to the area and have a better experience at a...

We stayed in the suite, 201. The room was great, spacious, separate bedroom and living room, amazing views, the bedroom shower/bath was beautiful.

Apart from the room everything else was average and there were a few frustrating points.

Food - average, maybe even slightly below average in terms of taste, quantity, and presentation (they served some bite sized salmon chunks in a plastic cup…) some of their drink dispensers were broken

Staff - sub par, and this is the reason why we gave 2 stars instead of an average 3. They were not rude, but:

  1. We made a reservation for karaoke, they said they would call our room when it was ready but they just forgot. When we called them to check they said yeah it was ready and did not apologize about forgetting to call.
  2. Our room had 4 hard pillows and 1 soft pillow. We realized this at night and I called the front desk but no answer. I walked down to reception to ask in person and the guy said that they didn’t have any soft pillows. I was obviously annoyed and insisted we needed 1 more soft pillow in order to sleep properly. The guy asked to check our room for some reason, we let him and then he understood and ended up going to an empty room to find a soft pillow.
  3. Checkout time was 11am. We were there at 10:50 and had a bus to catch at 11:10. There was nobody at reception until 11:05, so we checked out then and missed our bus.

Overall, I don’t think I’d stay here again, but I had a lot of fun and the room was nice. If you are staying, I highly suggest bringing your own alcohol and some snacks since there’s nothing nearby. If you have those, and good company, you’ll have a good time. Karaoke and ping pong are a...

Off top we loved the semi open air bath in our room! A private onsen is pretty amazing to have even when the mornings or nights get cold. It's especially relaxing after a long day of walking and exploring. We didn't like how inexperienced the front staff were. Almost every question I had. It was hard for them to give me a definitive answer. I don't know if it was new staff Or they just didn't know. We did utilize [Google Translate] for everything, and most of them spoke English. We only used the public bathhouse once and believe we got charged for 2 days of resort Water use fee. Definitely recommend looking into a taxi when you arrive at the base of the hill if your traveling with a lot of luggage Because it's not listed how difficult it is to walk up/down The steep slippery inclined poorly paved back roads to the hotel. The location was in decent proximity of bus stops to make your way over to popular attractions such as lake ashi [pirate ship, hakone visiter center] the Hakone Ropeway, Hakone open air museum, glass museum, etc... like 20min bus rides and some stepping. The staff wasn't helpful in getting to the attractions but Google maps helped us so much in navigating the bus routes! Their meal program was odd, with nothing to eat at the hotel we roamed down the 'main road' to find most restaurants close early by 4- 4:30pm. We stopped in 1 of 2 open dine in spots within miles. The Chinese food restaurant was a life saver and hit the spot! Plus the convenience stores come in handy so much as well for snacks & drinks. Not so important, but there was a rack falling off the wall & the TV didn't seem to work well we found out later that evening.

Absolutely disgusting hotel room. DO NOT STAY HERE. My wife and I booked a room for a night to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary. Upon arrival we were happy to see the nice amenities so we relaxed for an hour or so before dinner. While spending time in the room, we both started to get itchy eyes, soar throats, and a light cough. Started looking around more carefully and noted: - dog urine smell - mold on walls - dust on headboard, blinds, under sink etc. - mold and dust on window frames - scum on shower wall - shower smelled moldy and mildewy - no screen on the bathroom window so no bathroom ventilation - sink damage and water damage on floor underneath - bed/linens smell dirty The room looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in 6 months. Given the state of the room, any confidence we had in the kitchen, public bath, or other rooms in the hotel were completely destroyed. After returning from dinner we left the hotel and drove two hours home, effectively canceling what was supposed to be a romantic getaway for our special day. When I informed the hotel staff that we would be leaving, they seemed to fumble around to figure out how much to charge us for the few hours we stayed there rather than trying to offer any remedy for the situation (not that there was anything that could be done). We received no apology for our horrific experience. Neither my wife nor I have ever left a hotel without staying so this was a first for both of us. Needless to say, we will never try to stay at this hotel again. After this experience, we won’t be trying any other livemax hotels either lest we risk this kind of experience again.
