We had an enjoyable stay at Asuke Lodge, thanks to the hospitality of the Japanese staff. The lodge itself is lovely, and the facilities are well-maintained.
However, our experience was affected by a disruptive family consisting of 4 parents, 2 grandparents, and several toddlers, children, and babies. This large group took over the kitchen area and common spaces, creating significant noise and chaos. These disruptions were most apparent in the breakfast room, where the children were causing a disturbance to all guests. With a lack of proper supervision, the children and toddlers were unruly, and on one occasion, I witnessed a child running around the lodge at 3 a.m. Unfortunately, nothing was done by management or staff to address the situation, which made the atmosphere less peaceful than expected.
Additionally, the lodge's dry room had trouble keeping up with the volume of gear being stored on certain days, which was a bit inconvenient.
While we appreciated the service and overall quality of the lodge, the failure to address the disruptive family and the issues with the dry room prevented us from giving a full 5-star rating. Nonetheless, we still had a good stay and hope the management will take these points into consideration for...

Our stay at Asuka Lodge was nothing short of amazing! The location is absolutely perfect for ski-in, ski-out access, just steps from the gondola with breathtaking views of the mountain. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional—Yachiyo picked us up from the train station at no extra charge and provided fantastic recommendations for the best dining spots in town. Justin ensured our departure was just as seamless.
The breakfast was outstanding and changed daily, with Ethan cooking up a storm each morning. The lodge itself is well-equipped with a dedicated area for snowboarding and boot gear, as well as an onsen to relax after a day on the slopes. While the showers and toilets are shared, we never encountered long wait times, even at the end of the snow season.
A huge highlight was Yachiyo’s assistance with shipping our snow gear to the airport and helping with translations—she truly went above and beyond! The entire staff was incredibly friendly, communicative, and always ready to help. If you’re looking for an amazing place to stay with top-notch service and the perfect ski location, Asuka Lodge is the place to be. We can’t...
Read moreThis is actually my first google review, and I’m writing this as I leave Hakuba on a bus - hope that speaks for the amazing time we had at Asuka Lodge!! The staff here are exceptional at creating a community here, especially starting with Justin, who picked us up from the bus terminal on arrival and dropped us off as well ( yes, they pick up and drop off from the nearby bus terminal and JR train station!). We only did a short 3 night stay here, but we already made great friends with other visitors as well as the staff members. Not to mention, it is practically ski in / ski out for the Happo One Snow Resort.
Before this gets too long, here are some other perks: Hot breakfast included every morning that is prepared and served individually (accommodated allergies for us) Game room Bar room In-building onsen In-building laundry Lawson run every night (staff carpool) staff help with booking reservations
We would highly recommend to all, and we will definitely be recommending to our friends! Hopefully we will back soon in...
