Nine nights, two rooms (two post school teenagers) and a lot of skiing. This Hotel was a gem to find.
I wanted big beds, included breakfast, an onsen and easy access to the ski fields - Hotel Hakuba delivered.
Beds are very wide singles, firm and comfortable. Pillows are perfect; one side traditional and the other fluffy. We slept well. Rooms are serviced regularly (unless opting out).
Ski buses collect and deliver to the front door. The Hotel has a huge ski locker facility (with hire shop - both not advertised).
Fantastic views of the mountains from the bed, vending machines in the corridor offering various beverages, an easy walk to the major supermarket (for easy dinners) and a decent walk to local Shrines. 15min down the lane, to the town center offers a few cozy bars (coffee/beer)- be sure to pre-book restaurants in the area (staff will assist). Dinner in the hotel is epic too, if needed. Although not located in the two major 'nightlife' areas (read 1st line), this Hotel provides what many did not (see 1st/2nd line). Final payment (on arrival) can be done by card or cash, but first contemplate your bank's fees - cash is much easier if you prepare, other card methods should be considered. Hotel transport to our departure bus was easily booked (a pick up option can be arranged). The evening onsen ritual was the best ending to our adventurous days; wash, soak/relax, meditate, sleep, eat then ski (eat/drink) - repeat. Again - the onsen facilities are superb. The staff are a super amazing team, between them they'll help (even for those awkward queries on etiquette and dress). Staff treated us as guests, ever friendly and always helpful. In all, the facilities, cleanliness, and hospitality was well above what we anticipated, which allowed my family to admire and enjoy the mountains.
Thank you Hotel...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe had a wonderful stay worth ten stars for four nights in mid-Februrary. Besides the room dĆ©cor being a bit dated (but we are aware of that when booking), everything else was perfect. Dinner and breakfast are buffet-style, mainly Japanese home-cooking which we enjoyed very much. The laundry room was clean and spacious with tables and chairs. Onsen could get a bit busy before dinner time when everyone was back from the slopes but no complaints there. There is a gear rental shop behind the hotel which we didnāt know about beforehand so we made reservations at another place. The equipment here looks very well-appointed. Itās convenient without the crowds.
The most valuable asset of this hotel is their staff. All of them were courteous but special credit must go to Daisuke-san and another English-speaking, middle-aged male staff on duty in the mornings. Upon arrival, we asked about ski schools and the reception staff tried very hard to explain in broken English. They also let us know that an English-speaking colleague could help explain further when he comes to work in the afternoon. By the time we came back in the evening, Daisuke-san had already helped us call a few schools to check for vacancies. We were pleasantly surprised! Another evening, Daisuke-san also went the extra mile to make sure that we will be able to arrange the luggage delivery and gear return smoothly. The morning male staff (apologies for missing his name!) is another gem, he helped us arranged a taxi to Noritake resort and communicated with the driver to reconfirm the correct destination. He even checked if the driver could take credit card for payment. We also think he left messages to Daisuke-san for any follow-up required in the evening.
We will definitely be staying here again next time we...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was our first visit to Hakuba, and we chose to stay two nights at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, the experience met our expectations. Although the hotelās layout reflects an older style, it is impeccably maintained and spotlessly clean.
The lobby is quite impressive and offers a welcoming atmosphere. We were pleasantly surprised to find complimentary coffee available while we waited for check-in. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, going out of their way to assist us and making a sincere effort to communicate in English, which we greatly appreciated.
The hotel is conveniently located near the Peak building, which houses a cozy coffee shop, and thereās also a supermarket about 500 meters away. Hakuba Station is roughly 950 meters from the hotel, a walk of about 15 minutes, making it reasonably accessible.
This hotel is an excellent choice if youāre planning to ski at Happo One, as itās conveniently located nearby. The room we stayed in, Room 418, was surprisingly spaciousālarger than most hotel rooms weāve experienced in other cities in Japanāand offered a stunning mountain view.
One of the highlights of our stay was the complimentary breakfast, which provided a great start to our days. Additionally, the hotelās onsen was a wonderful feature, especially during winter. The outdoor onsen allowed us to soak while enjoying beautiful views, adding to the overall charm of our holiday.
With its clean facilities, convenient location, friendly staff, and thoughtful amenities, our stay here during the winter was nothing short of perfect. We highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Hakuba, especially for skiing or simply enjoying a peaceful winter getaway.
Minor issue: the Wi-Fi is sometimes not...
