Lava Rock is set in a nice and large space in the Marriott Courtyard Hotel Hakuba. The food and drink was reasonable for western food in Japan but the service was some of the worst we have ever experienced especially for a restaurant with a fine dining price tag. At 8:30pm as we finished off our mains and while waiting for our dessert our server wanted to be paid at the table which we did and thought it was a bit odd. Our apple pie came which was mostly just puff pastry with a dash of apple and 10 minutes later the restaurant manager can and said “please go home” we would not have stayed too much longer anyway but we just up and left.
