This is the worst hotel I’ve stayed in in Japan and a very disappointing stay. First, it looks nothing like the photos. It is undergoing a renovation that is half done and seems abandoned. Hazardous chemicals are stored in the hallways. (I have photos where a large container clearly marked as hazardous and flammable is being stored in the hallway). The high staircase out front has no guard rail and is unsafe. Parts of the floors are stripped and not finished. The interior staircase is stripped and unfinished. On top of that the hotel was not very clean. The bathrooms were not up to Japan standards. They had a plumbing issue so used the room next to us as the shared bathroom and people were opening and closing the door until after 2am. The walls are thin and the room would shake when they closed the doors. They have heaters in the room that have an alarm that goes off every 4 hours and you can’t turn it off, so expect to be awakened several times a night. The ski storage room has trash about the floor. There was no soap in the bathroom and we had to request it. The staff was the only bright spot as they were kind and helpful. But otherwise this place is not safe and...
Read moreWhen booking a family ski trip 6 months out, all you can hope is that everything comes together. Our week at Powder Temple was the highlight of our time in Japan. Jake and Adam and the team could not do enough to make us welcome, picking us up from the bus station, running us into town to get our gear and groceries for the week and even running me out to Hakuba 47 after leaving my backpack at the apartment on the first day on the slopes - too excited! ||||With three kids, it was great to have space in the apartment for all of us, with a room for them and one for the parents, as well as a full kitchen to be able to cook dinner and get ready for the day. The included breakfast hit the spot, some mornings we were even treated to a hot breakfast - with eggs just how you like them!||||What a great week! Skiing was awesome for us as a family, and the ease of getting on and off the shuttle buses out the front of Powder Temple made it possible to try different resorts. The atmosphere in the bar at the end of the day just capped it off, with cold beer and some great food.||||Thanks guys. We will be...
Read moreWhat an awesome place to stay !! If you want to feel like you’re at home at the end of the day skiing / boarding the many slopes within minutes of the Powder Temple then this is the place to stay. I loved that you felt at home with the staff making it sooo easy.
Just a short walk to Echoland, bars and restaurants. Advise to book prior to travel as they book out quickly.
Jake, Renae, Brylie, Grace, Coops, Ned, Jess, Tim and Cohie were fantastic which we became good friends with while we were there. They all had an interest in what and where we were going to ski etc and always had the best options depending on the conditions.
The rooms were well appointed and could suit all combinations of people. Jake is always upgrading the place which is great.
He cooked meals make it easy to not have to head out in the cold and having a few beers after in the lounge was always full of laughs and good times.
If you want to be a number at a hotel then this isn’t the place for you however if you want to be in a place that is cosy, fun, friendly and feels like home then get on...
