Prairie Sweets & Restaurant — Restaurant in Hakuba

Prairie is a beautiful little restaurant with a warm and welcoming staff but best of all the food was amazing! We had the fish dish and meat dish of the day and both were wonderful. I wish my pictures could do them justice but both my husband and I dove right in and took a bite before we remembered to take a picture.

The meat dish was chicken with a balsamic glaze and vegetables, while the fish dish was Mackerel with pesto and vegetables. I only wish we could have tried the daily pasta too! There were several items on the menu that look like they are more permanent if their daily selections don’t sound like...

Wandered in before 6pm not expecting much from a sweets restaurant.

I ordered the steak, fries, gateau chocolat and some vanilla ice cream.

I was very pleasantly surprised when my steak came out perfect and tender. It also had some basic vegetables included.

I normally don’t enjoy cake, but I wasn’t able to stop when I started the gateau chocolat.

All in all it was a very cosy little restaurant with friendly service and excellent food.

Japanese-western fare at a homey restaurant run by a lovely couple. We were here two years ago and food has become even better! Their walnut ice-cream is wonderful and they now have an English menu, though not very descriptive.
