First of all the good points||1. it's very close to the statiion, about a ten minute walk, and ideal for those arriving and leaving by train. It's also only about 20 minutes to walk to the main sites.||2. It's fairly reasonably priced but you don't exactly get much for your money - the "breakfast" was OK but a bit of a waste of time - a small bread roll, a very small pot of yogourt, a fruit juice and tea or coffee. ||3. The staff (as with all staff we encountered in Japan) were friendly and helpful.||||Now the not so good points||1. Rooms in japan tend to be small but our double room was ridiculously small. There was nowhere to put cases and no room for two people to navigate their way around the small room. The double baed was wedged against the wall making it very challenging for the person next to the wall to get into and out of the bed. ||2. The room and bathroom looked very tired and dated. It had a rather depressing feel to it and was not a pleasant room to return to after a day out. My wife described it as feeling more like a hostel than a hotel although I can imagine that some hostels are a lot nicer. ||||Many of the reviews refer to the hotel as being "quite basic" and it certainly was - and I think that some of the ratings of 4 that have been given were being rather generous and were influenced by the proximity to the station and the nice staff. The lesson I have learnt is that when in Japan always go for a twin room and not a double as the twin...

Read moreWe stayed at hotel Flex for just one night. The location is within walking distance of Hiroshima Station and has a boutique feel in the main lobby area. On arriving we were offered welcome drinks which was a nice gesture. ||||The rooms are fairly small (but relative to most in Japan), with a nice firm mattress. I also liked that a traditional kimono was provided in the room :) ||||The hotel is within walking distance of Hiroshima Castle and within easy reach to the Atomic Bomb Dome and The Peace Memorial Park & Museum. ||||The only downside was the breakfast- each guest is only given one baguette and has to pay a fee to have one more. I find that it's slightly embarrassing for guests who don't feel satisfied with their breakfast- almost like the moment from Oliver Twist...'YOU WANT MORE????!'||||Aside from the breaky situation, I'd recommend this hotel for a...
