I was staying in Kochi for three nights, unfortunately none of the hotels had rooms available for all three nights so I had to book two hotels instead which isn’t ideal. I hate moving around, packing and unpacking, it’s rather tiring. I stayed one night in Kochi Hotel, then two more nights at Richmond Kochi hotel.||||Check In Date||Spring 2018||||Location||Kochi, Shikoku||||Style||Budget hotel|||| ||||Room||Superior Double Room Non-Smoking||||I stayed one night in the Superior Double Room which is the more expensive choice, there is a cheaper version which is the semi double room which is standard size in Japan. The room is obviously smaller and the bed is definitely alot smaller, being only at 120cm wide, I find it too small for two person, unless it’s an adult and a child.||||Once I entered the room, I realize how spacious it was (in Japanese standard), there is an actual corridor with room to hang up my coat and take off my shoes. Lots of hotel in Japan does not have this privilege, most of the time you open the door and the bed is two steps away, and there is no room to open up your suitcase or space for your shoes. There were space to walk around and stretch out your legs, plenty of spaces to open your suitcase and they evem provided a luggage rack which isn’t necessarily provided in Japanese budget hotel.||||There was a table with two chairs near the big window, not that I ever sat on the chairs in hotel but I did use it that evening when I was eating my fruits that I bought at the Familymart (Japanese convenience store).. It was nice to have this as a bonus, at least spaces to put my handbag, snacks or even guidebooks.||||There was a small fridge that needed to be turned om to use and TV that only have Japanese channels. Lots of electric sockets around the room which I liked and I loved the conveniences of the light switches sop close to the bed so I don’t need to get up to turn off/on the lights.||||Bathroom||Like most budget hotels in Japan, the bathroom is VERY small, the size of this bathroom is adequate with the wash basin being ‘normal’ size and not those tiny ones designed to fit in a small place or above the toilet. There are clothes hook behind the door, room to turn around to get change. The only complaint I have is how much the shower curtain stinks from being wet all the time since no windows in the bathroom whicvh is common in japan’s budget hotels. So I would avoid to even touch that shower curtains unless they change them every so often||||Bathroom||Like most budget hotels in Japan, the bathroom is VERY small, the size of this bathroom is adequate with the wash basin being ‘normal’ size and not those tiny ones designed to fit in a small place or above the toilet. Read moreThe hotel doesn't have a website that is easy to find in English so we went through a travel agency to make reservations. Weren't sure what we would get. Our point of comparison are Japanese business hotels which we presumed this was. However, while costing a bit more, the rooms were large with a separate shower area from the sink. Great view of station. Choice of no daily cleaning but fresh towels delivered daily. Breakfast has 45 min seating times. Nice Japanese breakfast selection. We stayed 3 days and there was a slight variation each day. While location is most convenient to the station and surroundings, the main tourist areas, e.g. Sunday market, are about a 15 min easy walk. Would definitely recommend and stay...
Read moreI normally stay in Toyoko Inn whenever I travel in Japan.||||There is no Toyoko inn in Kochi.||I found this simple and well kept hotel just outside the JR train station.||Was surprised by the low price as compared to others.||Breakfast is only 600Yen additional. Good deal.||||This hotel has laundry machine and it make my trip easier.||The setup is very similar to Toyoko Inn. ||The only setback is that there is no Safe Box in the room.||I have to deposit them at the front desk.||||The staffs, like Watanabe san, are very friendly and willing to spend time to guide me to the attractions...
