This was such special place: the temple was built in 1482, and is called the silver temple. Today, Ginkakuji consists of the Silver Pavilion, half a dozen other temple buildings, a beautiful moss garden and a unique dry sand garden. It is enjoyed by walking along a circular route around its grounds, from which the gardens and buildings can be viewed. Not suitable if you have mobility issues, or are in a wheelchair, as the ground is uneven, and gravelled.|It certainly has a Zen feel to the area, and should be on your lists of to be seen when in Kyoto. Our room & the shared bathroom was clean, amenities were all provided. There's a little kitchen too. But be ready to bring your suitcases upstairs if you stay here bcs the stairs were quite steep. We also had some snacks in the cafe. There were simple food & snacks you can enjoy. The cafe was very quiet & cozy, suitable for you who like to work from cafes. You can bring your own dogs too.
