Hakusa Sonso Hashimoto Kansetsu Garden & Museum — Attraction in Kyoto

This garden and museum was once the atelier and home of Hashimoto Kansetsu, a renowned Japanese painter. The gallery space is small but maintained with great care, operated by the descendants of Kansetsu. This is one of my favourite places in Kyoto, and probably the whole of Japan! It is a beautiful, tranquil garden with plenty of places to sit and enjoy the peaceful bird song. Although it is close to some very busy temples, this garden is very peaceful and there are no crowds.
