It’s a place where you come for experience, not eating/drinking. It’s a wooden house with panorama windows on all four walls, in the middle of woods, surrounded by trees and mountains. It’s a beautiful path that leads to this place. It’s so quiet and cozy inside, visitors respect each other and talk quiet. Relaxing atmosphere. You sit next to the window and enjoy nature. I was sitting next to the window and could see beautiful mountain landscape and even a piece of Kyoto city.
I tried matcha tea, it was rich and delicious 1200 yen. Yuzu iced soda was mind blowing, so refreshing, flavor is a mix of lemon and grapefruit 1100 yen. Delicious and fresh strawberry roll cake, big amount of berries, minimum amount of sugar 500 yen.
I recommend to book a desired time and seat. Otherwise you will end up on a couch in the corner of the room and can’t see well the views. First time we didn’t book and weee sitting on a small couch and couldn’t see much. Then we booked a time and desired spot - next day we enjoyed the best views 😍
Lots of tourists come here for photos. It can be annoying to sit and some people come and start taking photos behind your back. Asking politely would be a much...

It's not a difficult hike, a few steep incline but all less than 50metres. There is a waiting room downstairs and names are entered on to a list for seating. I was expecting a tea ceremony, but was only a coffee shop when we visited. There are as many locals as the are tourists which for me speaks volumes about the place. As we were there quite late on a Sunday afternoon, they'd run out of many food options (also some options are only available during certain times) and we could only have cake and a drink - both were good. It's a little pricey, but not outrageous. They're very hospitable, like all the Japanese. Well...
Read moreThis place was in the middle of the mountain and getting there was a bit of a struggle. We started by our journey climbing the mountain from the south-west. This turned out to be a mistake because google maps never recommends the best routes. I climbed a 45 degree slope with a bicycle and killed my body. ( I am a track n field team captain for a school with 1000 students ) after this fight we arrived at an old shrine. We parked our bikes here and headed up into the mountain and saw the building. We were here for lunch and once we entered we were greeted by a sign saying no lunch and only snack. In case you are here for lunch i recommend visiting somewhere first then heading here. The view from the 2nd floor was a hidden gem. 10/10 view. recommend for people who want to explore kyoto’s...
