Hatoba-an Machiya — Hotel in Kyoto

A delightful experience, a mix of architectural history with down to earth luxury accommodation. Mind you its more of a hard edge functional luxury, lots of wood and tatami mats. I love the kitchen "cabinet" and its a super nice touch to have the shower with the dual pour over function.

The futons are extremely comfortable as are the beds and its well designed so that you can take a relaxing bath and look out onto the garden. Or relax in the dining room and do the same. Check in is a breeze and check out is simply leaving the machiya. This is a huge recommendation, if you've never stayed in these apartments before...

Assolutamente imperdibile! Abbiamo soggiornato due notti in questa Machiya a Kyoto. E’ semplicemente fantastica! La zona è perfetta, a Gion, dove a distanza di pochi metri si trova di tutto, ma proprio di tutto! La casa è bellissima: due camere da letto, una con futon e l’altra con letti occidentali, sala da pranzo, ingresso, cucina e bagno e un piccolo ma curatissimo giardino. Il tutto arredato magnificamente, in perfetto stile giapponese originale. Inutile dire della pulizia: neanche le nostre sale operatorie sono pulite così! E poi la casa dispone di tutto, ma proprio tutto: stoviglie, asciugamani (che cambiano ogni giorno), tostapane, rice maker, forno a microonde, lavatrice, wifi, etc. ci siamo trovati benissimo e la consiglierei a chiunque voglia passare qualche...

Amazingly, beautifully refurbished machiya. It's apparent that it has been taken great care of. Convenient location....
