Recenly opened(Aug) but is functioning very well. Highly recommended for both vacation and business trip.
Location: center of Gion, surrounded by many great restaurants(foodies will like here!!), right near lots of cultural sights, very safe(single girl traveled alone). Taxi, bus, bike parking, subway station are 5min away, you can get anywhere easily.
Staff: Superb front desk/concierge service. very friendly, helpful and resourceful. Helped me with 3 days’ travel plan in Kyoto: reservations for restaurants and unique experiences (e.g. tea time with maiko/geisha), receive&return my rental bike…basically they helped me with everything i needed. Diverse nationalities: Italian, American, Chinese, Korean, Taiwanese…so you can speak your very own languages here.
Business: I worked here during my stay. Internet Speed was great. Quiet in the dinning area during night, very nice working environment. Staff kept serving me complementary tea and coffee...so nice
Experience: culture, craft, culinary, service…You can definitely enhance those special Kyoto experiences back in your hotel (a lot of culture events going on, e.g. Sake tasting night)
Read moreWow, what can I say. We booked a deluxe queen room and it was the best hotel room we’ve stayed so far in our 2-week Japan trip, even if it was only listed as a three star hotel.
The location was one of the biggest highlights. It was close to everywhere (and only a 3min walk to the famous Kamo River) yet hidden in a quiet neighborhood where you could get away from the chaotic crowds in the Gion area.
Everything in the room was clean, renovated/modern, a beautiful Kyoto style touch with a luxury vibe. We especially loved the bathroom - I don’t normally use hotel bathtubs but theirs was so superb that we used it everyday during our stay lol.
The staff were very polite and friendly, too. One special shoutout to one of the staff (we forgot to ask for his name!) on the night of our checkout, who went above and beyond to help with our transportation to Osaka. どうもありがとうございます!
Only one small con was that the breakfast options were pretty limited (traditional Kyoto style breakfast only). But the food was very high quality with a reasonable price.
Overall, we loved our stay and would definitely come back when we revisit...
Read moreI was disappointed in this hotel. From the reviews I thought it would be fantastic but it wasn’t even okay. |The room layout is weird. There is no closet and barely a place to put your luggage. The bed takes up the whole room and everything felt cheap and worn (the fixtures were barely connected sink and bath tub). Also the room was so hot and it was next to impossible to change the thermostat because it was in Japanese and it was unclear how to change it|All of this would’ve been annoying but okay if it was a budget hotel but this was a very expensive hotel (I think because it was during Sakura season they jacked the prices up). | |The room was dirty with dirt on the walls and grime in the bathroom. But the worst part was the lack of curtains in the room. The hotel is right next to a 24 hour parking sign so there was bright light shining in the room all the time. The hotel was so unhelpful when I asked them about this. They gave us a drink coupon and hung a sheet up over one third of the big window. ||I attached two pictures—one taken at 11:30 pm and one at 6 am to show how bright it was in our room...
