This was seriously the best hotel out of the hotels we've stayed at during our trip. Our room was very spacious, clean, and incredibly beautiful. The staff were incredibly friendly. Under the sink, they provide the usual amenities of a toothbrush with toothpaste, hairbrush, cotton pad, razors, and soap bars. The toilet is separate from their shower. The shower room was so clean and modern looking. It also had shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided. We didn't know before we booked but we happened to stay on a Thursday which is their sake tasting night. We had a blast and got to try out 5 different sakes, 4 of which are from Kyoto. We had breakfast at this hotel too which consisted of a simple light breakfast of yogurt with fruit, quiche, rice, and a light soup. Their nescafe coffee was also tasty. I cannot say this enough but this is seriously an amazing hotel! It was the most expensive out of the hotels we stayed in but it was definitely worth it.

I feel like I am taking crazy pills. We came here because the reviews were so positive but our experience was far from positive. The room was dirty and the fixtures were loose and cheap. There was nowhere to put our bags and nowhere to put towels to dry. Just a poorly thought out layout all around. The worst part was the room had a 24 hour sign that lit up our room all night. I addressed this with the staff and they were cold and unhelpful. They hung up a drape over one third of the window and it barely did anything (see photos taken at 6 am and 11:30 pm) All of this would have been fine if it was a budget hotel but we were charged an outrageous nightly rate for the quality of the room (I think they jacked prices up for Sakura season). Avoid this hotel. There are better that reflect the quality and kindness that you would expect from the Japanese hospitality. Trust me it’s not here.

Set in the Gion area famous for the Geishas and Samuries living there. Real old style place made with mostly wood with little alley ways that hide delicious Ramen shops. The hotel is fairly new but designed on the old style houses. Rooms are good. There is a safe in the room, the water is hot. Breakfast is available by request at the time of booking. The staff were just wonderful and very accommodating plus speaking a host of languages. The hotel is also close to the area where memoirs of a Geshah was filmed and you can stand on the bridge in the movie If you are lucky you may see a Geshah going to work. We actually had a chance to speak with a Mako (apprentice Geshah ) via an interpreter. This was arranged by our hotel.

Recenly opened(Aug) but is functioning very well. Highly recommended for both vacation and business trip.

Location: center of Gion, surrounded by many great restaurants(foodies will like here!!), right near lots of cultural sights, very safe(single girl traveled alone). Taxi, bus, bike parking, subway station are 5min away, you can get anywhere easily.

Staff: Superb front desk/concierge service. very friendly, helpful and resourceful. Helped me with 3 days’ travel plan in Kyoto: reservations for restaurants and unique experiences (e.g. tea time with maiko/geisha), receive&return my rental bike…basically they helped me with everything i needed. Diverse nationalities: Italian, American, Chinese, Korean, Taiwanese…so you can speak your very own languages here.

Business: I worked here during my stay. Internet Speed was great. Quiet in the dinning area during night, very nice working environment. Staff kept serving me complementary tea and coffee...so nice

Experience: culture, craft, culinary, service…You can definitely enhance those special Kyoto experiences back in your hotel (a lot of culture events going on, e.g. Sake tasting night)

Wow, what can I say. We booked a deluxe queen room and it was the best hotel room we’ve stayed so far in our 2-week Japan trip, even if it was only listed as a three star hotel.

The location was one of the biggest highlights. It was close to everywhere (and only a 3min walk to the famous Kamo River) yet hidden in a quiet neighborhood where you could get away from the chaotic crowds in the Gion area.

Everything in the room was clean, renovated/modern, a beautiful Kyoto style touch with a luxury vibe. We especially loved the bathroom - I don’t normally use hotel bathtubs but theirs was so superb that we used it everyday during our stay lol.

The staff were very polite and friendly, too. One special shoutout to one of the staff (we forgot to ask for his name!) on the night of our checkout, who went above and beyond to help with our transportation to Osaka. どうもありがとうございます!

Only one small con was that the breakfast options were pretty limited (traditional Kyoto style breakfast only). But the food was very high quality with a reasonable price.

Overall, we loved our stay and would definitely come back when we revisit...

I was disappointed in this hotel. From the reviews I thought it would be fantastic but it wasn’t even okay. |The room layout is weird. There is no closet and barely a place to put your luggage. The bed takes up the whole room and everything felt cheap and worn (the fixtures were barely connected sink and bath tub). Also the room was so hot and it was next to impossible to change the thermostat because it was in Japanese and it was unclear how to change it|All of this would’ve been annoying but okay if it was a budget hotel but this was a very expensive hotel (I think because it was during Sakura season they jacked the prices up). | |The room was dirty with dirt on the walls and grime in the bathroom. But the worst part was the lack of curtains in the room. The hotel is right next to a 24 hour parking sign so there was bright light shining in the room all the time. The hotel was so unhelpful when I asked them about this. They gave us a drink coupon and hung a sheet up over one third of the big window. ||I attached two pictures—one taken at 11:30 pm and one at 6 am to show how bright it was in our room...
