Inconvenient location which made getting to/from places quite bothersome. The closest metro stop is 20 min walk away (we obviously should have researched this but this isn’t always possible to gauge as a tourist). No breakfast available with poor selection of choices around the hotel, we were having to buy pastries and yoghurts in Family mart and eat in the room. We initially stayed in a 3 person room (3 single beds, extremely tight for space with none for luggage) and after 2 nights we’re switching to a 2 person room as our group reduced in size. We had to pack up all our backpacks and store them in reception for 4 hours as we were not allowed to simply transfer rooms which was inconvenient to say the least. Staff on the night were happy for us to move bags that morning, however no communication was made and morning staff knew nothing about it and did not seem to understand our position. The double room was spacious and bathroom was much bigger in size, much more reasonable even by Japan room standards. Quiet area which was one major advantage of this hotel. Please note, the rooms do not get cleaned throughout the stay y default and you have to ask for staff to clean the room 1 day in advance. Same goes for towels etc. Also hotel does NOT have an iron on site. Given the cost of the hotel we were expecting at least cleaning and basic things like iron and...
Read moreWe stayed here for 3 nights whilst exploring Kyoto. Overall the hotel is in very new condition (only built in early 2019), with new rooms and amenities. Staff are friendly and there is complimentary breakfast included with your stay. ||||The only negative to this hotel is location. The hotel is about 10 mins walk from the nearest train station. This proves difficult if you have a suitcase and it is raining. It also meant it took so much longer to get anywhere because the hotel was a little to far out of town. We ended paying for taxis a lot more than anticipated. ||||The hotel has bikes for hire. We did hire a bike 1000 yen per day per person and explored Gion. The roads are really flat and great for bike riding. My feedback to the hotel is that I love the bike idea and I think it does add a positive experience to the hotel, however the bike hire should be complementary to guests.||||Overall I would provide a 3 star. Next time I would find a hotel closer to Kyoto Station for ease...
Read moreDuring my recent stay at this unique Kyoto hotel, I was impressed by several aspects. The staff, predominantly international, were comfortable communicating in English, which made my stay much more convenient. While the location is slightly north of central Kyoto, requiring some extra travel time to reach the main tourist areas, I found this to be a blessing in disguise. The hotel's proximity to the serene Kyoto Imperial Palace Gardens (Kyoto Gyoen) offers guests a peaceful retreat from the city's bustle. The quiet neighborhood perfectly captures the traditional atmosphere of Kyoto. One particularly interesting aspect is the hotel's ninja theme. For enthusiasts of Japanese ninja culture, this adds an exciting and unique dimension to the stay. The themed elements throughout the property create an engaging experience that sets it apart from...
