Rinn Shiki Juraku is such a lovely property. The staff is professional, friendly and helpful. The Townhouse 5 is so spacious, with a comfortable bed. We were very pleased that the TV supported Netflix for watching a series after a busy day exploring. The bathtub is huge and takes over an hour to fill. You must check on the water temperature halfway through because the hot water runs out and the tub will fill with ice-cold water. The air conditioners are also a bit noisy. The reception area offers earplugs if you are sensitive to noise while sleeping. The location is good for walking to Nijo Castle, which is a recommended tourist attraction (and worth it). Other areas such as Fushimi Inari or Gion, it is recommended to use Uber or the metro.Overall, I highly...
Read moreWhat a pleasant surprise to find such a lovely hotel in Kyoto that's close to public transportation but in a quiet alley! There are only 10 units renovated from traditional homes that were 100 years old. Our unit is two stories with sleeping quarters and shower, bath tub, vanity upstairs. The toilet is downstairs and the living room has a lovely patio view of plants . The place is very clean with hardwood floors. The spacious sleeping quarter has tatami and sliding doors. The hotel provides a breakfast every morning. It's really amazing! It's very refreshing, good ingredients and they have the most delicious bread and jam made out of seasonal fruit! The staff are very courteous and helpful. I enjoyed my...

While the property and cool-factor of the hotel alone merit a 5-star review, it's really everyone who works here who makes this place so special and memorable.
We felt very at home coming and going each day between activities and meals. I love the neighborhood that seems to have a good mix of activity, but also some space away from the crowds, near the palace. It's just such a calming and beautiful place to be. Special thank you to Tatsuo and Saki for making us feel so welcome. We can't...
